You've almost got the right answer. It is pay to click in some cases. Most times however, it is views. When you put an add on a page, if a person visits that page, you make money. This isn't set in stone. Some companies like to have their ads clicked. I would discuss the terms with the company you want the add of.

Just a little helpful hint. If they go by a pay to click function, tell your users that to join your site, they must click an add. Or tell them that to keep the site alive, you must have your adds clicked. Apply motivation to click the link to your users

The website is earned more due to his traffic , content and various company ads in his website . More content help him to earn lot of money . Now a days the website owner makes large amount of money when compare to software field in my country

If you look at the cases of many bloggers who have turned a hobby blog into their living they will all state the same thing. Whilst you will make money from the likes of adsense you can make more money by actually offering paid for advertising slots on your site. But to concentrate on building a site full of useful content which will naturally attract visitors who return, who recommend your site to others and help to build up a sizeable community. By doing this you will achieve a site which grows quickly and so will put you in a better situation to charge good money for your advertising slots rather than earning a few cents via the likes of adsense.
