| Anyone NOT seen The Godfather?  | | | |  If you've seen my other post, (titled "Has Anyone NOT seen Scarface?") then you will know my predicament. I'm a fan of mobsters, Italian mobsters mostly, love mafia movies, and gangsters from the 30's. Love Capone, Dilinger and more. My boyfriend has Capone tattooed on his arm and is good friends with Capone's grandson. He doesn't know I've never seen these classics. Anyway, is it worth sitting through? I hear it is long. I'm torn between wanting to watch it, but also because I've waited so long, I've gotten afraid that maybe I won't like it, and then what if that ruins it for me loving mafiosos and Italian men (mmm)?! This happened to me with The Westside story. Anyway, should I watch it?

| |  It all depends on what you enjoy when you watch a movie. If you like excitement and action then The Godfather may well disappoint. But if you like watching drama, a well thought out storyline and brilliant performances then the chances are you will enjoy The Godfather.
For me the Godfather is all about the storyline which takes you on a journey into the world of the mafia. It is at times violent, but also romantic as well as a slighly funny in places.
One thing which is worth remembering is that when The Godfather was made way back in 1972 the emphasis on most movies was on telling a story rather than entertaining you with lots of action and special effects and so if you have watched older movies and found them to be lacking visually then again you may find The Godfather to be a little disappointing.
I would say watch it as it is a great film and of my all time favourites.
