Is falling in a dream and hitting the ground dangerous?

I heard it was dangerous to fall in a dream and hit the ground, but it has happened to me before and I woke up fine. Wondering if anyone else had this happened, or what the myth is behind this. Or I think it is you're not supposed to die in a dream, but I've sort of had that happen to, then I came back to life in the dream (Very weird).

Yes I have heard that as well, but I never did understand why, well if it has happened to you maybe it is just something someone made up or maybe you just didn't fall hard enough...
