How many stages of cancer are there..

most types of cancer have 4 stages.. what i know is malignant what stages this one belong to.. i have no idea really... the reason why i ask this.. coz one time when i accompany my mom to one of the hospital here. i heard one of the family talking to each other and they said the one of the patient have malignant tumor.. what is it.. is it a dangerous one?

Actually the term cancer refers to malignant grow. If is not malignant, they call it benign grow tumor, not cancer... Stages of cancer are referred by tumor size and location...invasions of tumor in local tissue and metastases...
