Moving is soooo stressful

Well this is our third time moving in the last three years. I just can't seem to settle. Our first place we were renting, ended up being renovated and turned into condos and now they are renting them out for three times the rent that they did before so it's impossible to get back there.
The second house was way out in the bushes and very far from my work that ended up being full of health risks by having tons of mold growing up the walls in every room and that's because the landlord would not fix the problem which was a very wet basement when we told him months earlier and it's not like he didn't know about it from day one when we vacated the place.
Now the place we're in now it's so spacious and the rent is alright. We moved her last November before the winter started and we found out the hard way that this place was pretty much only liveable in the summertime due to not being insulated so we were getting hydro bills that were $800-$900 for the months of Jan, Feb, and March. It was snowing in June here so and our summer hasn't been normally hot.
One day our landlord phones us telling us he's coming to do some work, so when he got here he blasted me with the news of how he was getting this place assessed by a real estate agent so he could put it on the market. You'de think he would come and fix up the place when we would ask him but nope. Three weeks later a for sale sign was up in the front yard and then we had strangers walking through our rental house. We knew it wouldn't sell because he's tried for three years and it wouldn't. So what would make him think it's going to sell this year? I'm not sure.
He then called us to meet up so we could talk about an offer he got and we did meet him and we came upon an agreement for us to look for a new place until the end of August (which is this month) So on the fourth of this month (Aug) we phoned him and told him we found a place and he freaked out on us and told us it wasn't thirty days of notice???? We continued explaining to him that we already talked about this and he told us not only would we have to pay for Aug rent but Sept's rent also! He hung up the phone but ended up calling us back telling us to forget what he said it was fine. He's a hard guy to deal with sometimes and frankly I'm getting tired of renting because I feel that everytime we hand a landlord our money, it's just being thrown out the window so they can enjoy life.
Do you rent? How is your relationship with your landlord?
