facebook the new craigslist?  | |  Do you think facebook with all of it's applications such as "marketplace" could replace craigslist.com? I think it has the potential and it definitely has the audience. I go on marketplace from time to time to find cheap furniture for my apartment but there aren't a lot of items to choose from. What are your opinions on this?

I'm not on as near as much,though, because it seems there are tons of scams on there. I think both are both established enough to not have to worry about the other shutting it down!!

| | | 2. atlballer32 (13) | 4 months ago |  Absolutely not. facebook market place isn't NEARLY as big as craigslist.. it has a terrible structure that should really be re-designed, craigslist is made for advertising things, facebook is for social networking, it shouldn't expand as a market place.

Not only does it have more people on it at any given day, if it was functional it would draw much more attention. Also it would help get rid of scams because each item on marketplace is connected with a profile. So the scammers will need to make a new profile every time they get reported as a scam which is a lot of work. | |
