What if you ten year old daughter...

I am a teacher - so I've seen this age group AT school. A ten year old "couple" isn't usually much to be afraid of unless they're getting together outside of school. Usually at this age they call each other boyfriend and girlfriend but really all that means is them sitting beside each other and talking to each other at school. As a parent (which I'm not one yet, but I can understand if I were in your shoes!) I would probably be freaking out too. But just to let you know...it MAY not be as bad as it sounds!

They are not serious about that I'm sure. They are just fascinated by what they are watching in tv or movies. Of course, we have to expalin to them that having a bf just be at the right time. THey are too young for that and they don't even know how to be inlove. And of course, we have to pray that they will forget that thing and continue on enjoying what they should at the age of ten. WOW I will say, wanting and having are two different things but basically that she can have as many friends as she wants and to wait on having a boyfriend for a while. (thank God my kid is 18 and I do not have to worry about things like your question anymore)

There is nothing wrong with her getting a boyfriend at this age. However, what she does in that relationship is the issue. It's time to talk about the birds and the bees with her. I wouldnt mind if the relationship is platonic and not involve penetration between two young people. I definitely will have a heart to heart talk with her, knowing that the fact she asked me for permission is a good sign that she still respects me and believe in me to confide. Dont just brush her off. Speak to her.
