Download Avira Antivir from cnet download. It is free and reliable. I'm currently using it and it had already detected viruses fast and easily and removed them. It is also user-friendly. Also, use limited user account to limit the virus access hole into your computer.

An anti virus software can help you in preventing a virus from infecting your computer, but once it is infected, even if the anti virus is able to clean the infection, sometimes the system files are deleted and hence the functionality is not the same anymore though you might not be able to notice the difference immediately. So if possible install a fresh copy of your operating system and this time make sure that you take necessary precautions to avoid your PC from being infected.

You can try Avira Antivir, a free antivirus software. But I'm sure this can make a difference. It depends on what kind of virus your computer is infected.
I've ever met computer virus several times. I remember once the virus didn't allow me to install an antivirus software. So I have to change my whole OS.I hope your computer won't meet the same disaster.

If you are going for free version.. go to AVG to install antivirus and if you are ready to pay for antivirus.. go for Norton/Symantec or Mcafee..

If you want to install an anti virus program which will keep your computer clean from viruses, then I will suggest you AVAST anti virus. Which is best among free antiviruses available now. I am using the same for a long time. To get updates, you just have to register with a valid emailid and they will be sending you the license key. It will be valid for 1 year, then after you can renew and use it for another year and so on. So install it and reply back....
