Do you try to slide on supplies and such for your children?

I recall when I was in junior high and my mom was trying to make a living on her own and trying to make ends meet. I had to have gym clothes and she would go the Salvation Army and get shorts and white shirts and die the shorts the color I needed. She was one of those women that could make things out of hardy anything at all. Do you make things work to save a dollar? Do you buy alot of second hand/ used articles for your kids or do you go first hand all the way?

No when I was younger the shirts and shorts had to be purchased from the school. They would usually buy me a ton of supplies at the beginning of the year when everything is like a quarter at walmart

I bought used for my kids, and they were fine with it. For my grandkids, I buy new, as my dil was not fine with used. I have more money now than when my kids were little. If having new means a lot to them, I would try to get new. When I was a child, one thing I always wanted was to be able to have a box of sixty four crayons. To me that would have meant I was very important.

Well, this doesn't surprise me that much. I wanted that same pack of 64 crayons! It was so cool.
