I was diagnosed with hypertension 2 years ago... the last month I've been eating papaya daily. Well, since I've started eating papaya I have not needed to take my bp med. Actually, my blood pressure has been controlled. Now, at times, it gets lower than I would like and engaging in my normal workout activity becomes difficult since it drops even lower. I haven't seen my Dr. about it. What do you guys think he'll diagnose me with now?

That's weird. I didn't know that Papaya could do that, especially make it too low.

I have only had it a couple times. I don't really ever see it in the store and most of the time I forget to even look.

Hi dazedaze,
I am sorry about that. I am not sure if papaya contains BP-controlled components. Per my medical backgroud, hepetension can not be cured or self-cured. So even if your BP is normal now, BP monitoring is also very important and necessary.
By the way, i am not sure of the meaning of that it gets lower than i would like. Does it mean hypotension? Let me explain it. If your BP is higher than 150/90 tested by several times in different time, you get hypertension. But as to hypotension, no unified conclusion on it. And some girls's BP is lower than 90/60 all the time and they do not feel any uncomfortable. It depends on your doctor's diagnosis.
As to the question of your diagnosis this time, it should be hypertension without any change. And if you really have a hypetension, you doctor would suggest you decline the quantity of your papaya and even reject it, but not change the diagnosis.
If you have any question about it, you can message me anytime.
Take care of you! Happy mylotting!
