or even shoes? Haev you known that our flips and shoes are harbingers of bacteria. as we to different places and public toilets and back to our places, there are so many different bacteria we get and harbor. one kind of bacteria is fecal bacteria. though it will not affect us as long as we don't have open skin that can cause diseases and infection and even can lead to death. You might say that i am just stating what i have just read somewhere. Yeah, i have read somewhere this information, but actually i had experienced this before also. I had serious problem with my foot because of my shoes. I got terrible infection on my nails. As i go a lot every day out of my house, going to places, during those times i had dry skin on my feet. so dry that my skin on my foot and toes cracked up and so those opening on the skin became the entry point of the bacteria. after few days my noticed that my toes were developing some liquid and afterwards there were some pus inside my toes. my toes became enlarged. i could barely walk. and what i did just asked my sister to go to the doctor for me to ask for prescription. at first my sister keep forgetting to ask or go to the doctor. but after a week of suffering she finally went to the doctor. and so after taking the antibiotics given to me , one week after the swelling on my toes began to shrink . but it took a month or more before the swelling finally went and before my feet became of normal size again. i had no idea back then what was happening. only now when i have read online but this bacteria our flip flops and shoes can cause that i began to realize and understand the cause of the infection on my feet. I thought that time i will not see my feet to be on normal size again. I was like having an elephanthasis kind of disease. my feet had swollen a lot. terrible sight. i didn't thought that it was so serious. thankfully because of the pain i persisted that my sister went to to the doctor for me. Thank God i am out of that situation. i will remember now not to wear dirty shoes again specially i don't clean my shoes before and i didn't wear any socks at all before.

Hubby and I were told time and time again when using a public shower to always wear flip flops to protect our feet from athletes foot and other diseases however, being in a public bathroom, there's all kinds of diseases one can pick up so it's very important to wash your flip flops and shoes too after leaving the area.

yeah it is important to wash our flip flops and shoes. specially the soles. anyways, we often leave them outside the door of our homes so we will not carry inside the dirt and bacteria these flip flops have picked up outside.

That sounds awful. I had some really bad planter warts on the bottom of my feet and they hurt really bad. I think I got them from walking barefooted or wearing shoes without socks. I found a good cure though. Put some duct tape over them for a couple weeks and they dry out.
