Selling your Jewelery email this discussion to a friend?

Anyone have any good ideas for selling hand made jewelery pieces. I make earring, necklaces, rings, bracelets, ankle bracelets, and I'm starting to use real gem stones and casting to make earrings and rings. I have tried e-bay but people don't get it, It cost money to invest in all the things you use to make it and then the time you spend on making it. I don't charge a lot for my work but on the other hand I simply won't give it away. I don't like to go to flea markets because you have to have eyes behind your head because people tend to steal. I was thinking about setting up a website but I think they cost a lot of money. I just read an article on one of the websites I buy my material from and they charge $199.00 a year. That's OK if you know people will buy your jewelery but I hate to spend that, not knowing if my jewelery will sell. Any ideas anyone.

This is what I was going to suggest! I agree, it's a great site, they sell everything hand made there. If you have never tried, you should at least go over and have a look see what you think.

There's also eBay but you may have thought of that already. You can put your things up for auction and let people make bids on them.

The only other site that come to mind is BlueJay, which is sort of like Etsy.

Have a great night and good luck.:D

Thank you I will take a look at Etsy, my daughter told me about that some time ago, and I never heard of Blue Jay but I'll check that one out as well. I did check out e-bay and put some of my things on there but no bids, I guess people don't understand how much materials cost such as real pearls and crystals etc, not including the time spent too make the item. I will definitely check out those sites and thank you for your response.

Well I was wondering if you had a flea market or a place you could set up shop in your city. I think you should try that out, you mite do well.

Yes I have thought about a flea market but like I said you have to have eyes behind your head because people can steal off your table. But that is a good idea, I might have to bring my daughter along to help me out and have that 2nd pair of eyes LOL. Thanks you for your suggestion

Flea markets and crafts shows are good ways to go especially if you have your crafts in cases that can be looked in but not taken out without opening them. I sell my crafts at pow wows and have only had a few items stolen.( I probably have gone to 50 or 60 pow wows so fay. I do not have cases yet for my crafts but am working on it.
