The article mentions that those participating in the study were overweight, but it didn't say by how much. In other words, it is possible that the benefits of fish oil might be enjoyed only by those who are severely overweight instead of trying to shave off those last five pounds. Fish oil contains Omega-3 fatty acids, which previous studies have shown may good for the heart. Although Omega-3s have been linked to weight loss in lab studies, as noted by the researchers themselves, more testing is needed to understand fully the reasons for the results.
