Hey, Let's go back in time! |
|
I like to live again in the medieval ages..where you don't use electricity at all. we have castles, with strong walls manually opened gates..with catapults and big arrows as defense..not to mention cannons too .
I don't want TV or radio nor bulb light. just a suburb home, a torch, a bed and some wooden walls to cover me. eat some vegetables and fruits only, and have a livestock of all kinds of animals. well, because i don't how to cook with out oil and cook book .
then my first job will be a Knight for the King, defend the Castle, fight bad guys, then eat, rest and have a lady on your lap ..then starts exploring the world filled with trees, plants and birds...
SO, any body wants to go with me?*looking for the Time Machine Remote*
have a great day every one........

angelajoy (949) | 4 months ago | I don't want to take this trip too. I hate the outdoors life, and going back in time means exactly this kind of life. I love technology and the comforts of a modern home. I can't cook, so I just buy food. If I go back in time, I don't think I'll be able to just buy cooked food.

4. mentalward (4214) | 4 months ago | I've often thought I was born in the wrong time. I have always loved growing my own food. I did quite nicely when we had no electricity once for 4 days because a hurricane had brought down the electric wires. I cooked outside, used candles inside until bed time, and enjoyed nature a lot more when I didn't have a TV or internet.
I completely renovated a house once, almost entirely by myself. That made me think about long ago when people built their own homes and used fireplaces for warmth and for cooking.
As for living in a castle, though, I've heard that they are (were) mighty drafty and, at times, very damp. When lit by torches, that must have been awfully stinky! Plus, the floors must have been awfully cold in the winter, unless the castle was located in a more tropical region. Winters get mighty cold around here!
I like living now, except for all the idiots driving around without a clue about the laws or speed limits. I'm using solar energy to operate my office here at home and plan to extend that to the whole house once solar power becomes cheaper. I would love to grow ALL my own vegetables and fruits, and barter with my neighbor who has a cattle and chicken farm. I love the idea of living a very natural life, free of electric bills and having to drive to the grocery store to buy food. I enjoy nature. I enjoy reading books. I could live without TV very nicely and even the internet if I was able to be completely self-sufficient.
But, in a castle? No, I think not. Way too big to heat in the winter. Way too much room for me, too. I like a smaller home where it feels more comfortable and warmer. I also LOVE modern medicine! If it weren't for that, I'd be dead long ago. So, yeah, I'd have to say I like living in these times.

mentalward (4214) | 4 months ago | Oh! I almost forgot... solar panels should be VERY cheap soon. There is a company that is now making "printable" solar sheets, printing them out on a special printer, just like you'd print a copy of a photo or letter! So far, they are only selling these to industrial companies, but they should soon be available to the general public. According to them, instead of $10.00 per panel, they will be $0.10 per panel (or something close to that)!!!

5. dreamr802 (754) | 4 months ago | I've always loved the time period where the castles were around and whatnot. I personally loved Henry VIII time period, I've been obesessed with that time period for a long time. I just find that time period fascinating. I have so many books and whatnot that depict everything. I plan on going to England eventually to see the castles and learn about all the history. If I had the money to I would love to get married at Hever Castle (where Ann Boleyn was born)...but that would be expensive flying everyone out to England from the US for a wedding.

dreamr802 (754) | 4 months ago | It's very expensive to get married in a castle especially since we would have to fly to England to get to one!!! HAHA. We don't have a house so we can't redo it. There's this really nice place near where I grew up that is an estate that has turned into a hotel with beautiful gardens...so we'll probably get married there...but if I was a millionaire I wouldn't hesitate to go to England to get married lol.

7. sushisarah (129) | 4 months ago | Without TV perhaps we can be more clever, ha ha... Yea, i love that idea, back to the ancient time where all were still black and white, but without black 'n white TV, ok. I will have pigs, because i liked to eat pig, ha ha... Ow, i don't cannon. Because i am a lady, i don't like the idea of strifle and lady on my lap. I'll be a princess, sit on my throne watching a moving TV who are the living clowns and some people from drama theatre who performed their drama script.

10. sophie_dfuss (2072) | 4 months ago | I think I can't really live in the middle ages. It may sound very simple to live at those times rather than the modern times now which is also complex. The medieval ages were the times when there were a lot of wars and colonization so there were no peace at all. Its like everybody is running around especially when their humble abode is being burned by other colonies attacking their villages. The medicine is not yet being discovered so its either most people die of sickness and injured soldiers die at the battle field. There were no hospitals yet. Giving birth at those times are also hard as the ceasarian procedure for breech babies were only discovered in the 1800s. There was no such freedom at that time. I think I am fortunate to live at the modern times now when everybody is free and where there is peace and order.
