Killing time |
|
What would you do to kill time when you are sick and you have to be at home all the time. Let's say you're have to be in bed all day and you're not allowed to go anywhere or do anything you like? I am ill now and my partner disallow me to do anything I like. Even I am not allowed to play games on the computer because I would be too excited with the game and become sleepless. So if you were me, you're jailed in your own house and you're not allowed to touch the computer, what would you do to kill time?

The time on your hands can also be used fruitfully to read religious tracts and the Bible. You can also call up friends on the cell-phone and keep in touch on latest developments happening ta their end. If you have hobbies, do them .I know, many would like to take up a new pastime. This is as good as any time to begin. If you like needle-point, get a book, get some materials and sewing kits and start.

CynergyDiva (138) | 4 months ago | Absolutely; great advice jonjee.
Last year I was laid up in bed with a broken ankle. Thank God I had a t.v. in my room or I would have gone crazy. My boyfriend was gone to work all day, and I was pretty much alone except when his Dad came over to give me food. It was horrible, but I had t.v., my radio and I started a new knitting project. I also got caught up on all my Writer's Digest magazines that I had been slacking off on.

klaudine (2191) | 4 months ago | That's interesting... I do like knitting and I think your suggestion to kill time with doing some offline hobbies is really fun. I think reading some books would be nice too... Hobbies is something that could really help to save us from boredom, isn't it?

5. taztheone (1214) | 4 months ago | I'm desperately trying to save time as I understand the value of time. Its very easy to kill time but extremely difficult to save it. After all time is money. There are 1000 ways to kill time starting from meditating & exercise to sleeping. since I'm trying for ways to save money, I hope I wont kill time trying to find ways!!!

CynergyDiva (138) | 4 months ago | I believe that the only time that is wasted is time you weren't enjoying what you were doing.
Some people may say that sleep is a waste of time, for he who enjoys it, t isn't. Some may say watching t.v. all day is a waste of time, but for he who enjoys it, it isn't. It all depends on what is a waste of time for each individual, and no one can say what is a waste of time for anyone else.

klaudine (2191) | 4 months ago | I really agree with you that time is money and it is so hard for me to think that I have to spend the whole day without post anything in the net... But what about you have to take the sick leave for some days at home. I believe it is not easy for working people to do this... I think exercising is interesting, but how could you do that if you have to lie at bed the whole day...

klaudine (2191) | 4 months ago | That's right! I have never think about that before. I mean, I read things, but I rarely read something useful and informative for me. But if you mean I have to read the text book from school... I think it would bore me even more because now, the situation is that I am bored to hell because I am not allowed to do anything because of my sickness. LOL

| 6. wlyatshu (18) | 4 months ago | I remember just a few weeks ago, i had a surgery on my eyes and i can see anything for a whole week, what i can do was just lying on the bad and doing nothing! That terrible lonliness and boring almost killed me! Fortuately, i had downloaded some series of stories and music and for the next few weeks all i can do was just turning to the radio and the mp3 player. Hope you find your own way to kill the time, but the health is the first thing to take care, so rest enough!

richiem (1473) | 4 months ago | Wow, it's great you have stories and music. I can imagine how really boring it would be seeing nothing.
Well, you are really are creative of thinking about this. Nice one!

klaudine (2191) | 4 months ago | Wow... that was bad. I don't think I could survive one day without doing anything like you did. i mean, I know that we can do that, listening to stories and music, but I have never thought about that if I were you. I might need someone to accompany me 24/7 so that I would feel safe. I think it is a very horrible experience, not being able to see anything for a whole week. I don't think I could do that more than 1 hour.

7. richiem (1473) | 4 months ago | Maybe I would read a book or something else. Or just listen to music.
But mostly, I would use that time to rest and sleep. I would also recommend that you can have a great conversation with your partner during this time. It is the most conducive time for looking in the past and planning the future. There is no distractions whatsoever.
Hope you get well soon.

klaudine (2191) | 4 months ago | Reading a book is a good idea, though for now I don't have any new book to read. But I would consider to reread a book that I like so much. And I would love to talk to my partner... Talking is fun and having a deep conversation would be nice, but too bad that my partner is working and I was left alone at home because I was sick:( Thank you... I hope I would be better soon. Can't wait to get out and get a fresh air...

klaudine (2191) | 4 months ago | LOL... Yeah, I wasn't allowed to touch the computer. My partner knew it, that if I touched the computer, I would make myself busy all day and I wouldn't have sometime to rest. I was ill so that I should have the whole day bed rest so I could get recover soon. If I am allowed to touch the computer, I wouldn't be so confused and desperate to find something fun to do to kill time at home. Alone. Computer-less. LOL.

9. neelianoscet (2006) | 4 months ago | I read books while on bed and drink teas most of the time. I do not do internet surfing if I need to sleep a lot and do not want to strain my eyes. Since, i feel weak from a cold or flu. I may like to sleep most of my time and put some cream on my face to do the beauty rest..

10. adinata (68) | 4 months ago | You can watch TV, listen the MP3, read the book, chat from your cellphone. But don't over do that activities because you'll become sleepless. Actually, i think bedrest is the consequent of disease. So if your partner disallow you do anything, just follow him. That was the best for you. Hope you get better soon
| |

|
klaudine (2191) | 4 months ago | That's true adinata. If my partner told me not to do anything and have a bedrest, I believe it is for my health. But it is so damn boring and I need to do something, even when I sick. Maybe something I can do in bed... Like pillow fight with myself or something like that? LOL. Just kidding. It's just because of the boredom.
Thank you so much, I hope I would be better soon too:D

bitoffun (159) | 4 months ago | I was really sick with the flu in Feb. For 3 weeks I laid in bed. I watched a lot of TV and slept a lot. I did read some books and the newspaper. I was too sick to get on the PC though. I like the music idea. I never thought of that when I was sick. lol.

ilyzium (424) | 4 months ago | Hi, I agree that because you're sick, your body probably wants you to give it a break since your immune system is low, otherwise you wouldn't be sick right? That's a message from your body ( and your partner) that you have to start taking care of yourself so I would try to get as much sleep & rest as you can, so that you can start to get better. Yeah i know it's no fun being sick, but just think it's only temporary and you do need to get better. Well, if you can't surf the net, why not read a book or magazine, do sudoko, crossword puzzles, journal, or even listen to some relaxing music. Are you allowed to talk on the phone? That might make some of your time go by.
