Ok, I've read the word Odesk several times in the past 12 hours, so I took a gander at it and may be interested. Due to the fact I'm interested and read about it on Mylot, then I would like to be someones referral on there. So, who can tell me what is going on with Odesk? I want to know the pros and cons of this. I want to know what you like about it and why it would be very beneficial to me and my family. Tell me how long you have been with them and how you got involved with them. From what I briefly read in other discussions and from the Odesk site, it has truly peeked my interest. All I need is for someone to put the icing on the cake.

I work for oDesk and average about $100 a month. I could make more, but I only have afew hours a night to work. The best way to get consistent (and better) earnings is to only do fixed price jobs. If you take a look at my blog in my profile link, I discuss oDesk quite a bit. I think you will find the most recent post interesting, as I discuss what working on oDesk has done for me in addition to paying me money. Personally, oDesk is (in the world of online earnings)the best thing that ever happened to me.

I have been on Odesk for about a year, although a few months I did not even look a jobs there because I was too busy to take any. I have only got two minor jobs there despite applying for over 50. The problem with many of the jobs is they do not pay very well and want people to work for like $2 or $3 an hour and I will not work for less than $5 an hour, but people in other parts of the world find it acceptable. There are jobs that pay fairly, but they are ones that require more skills, such as programming and website design. Also, writing ones sometimes have a fair wage, but there is still a lot of people wanting real cheap, however, I cannot imagine they are getting good quality that way, especially if they want well written English and are hiring from countries that people can afford to work for the low wages. Overall I have found it worthwhile to keep plugging along and applying for jobs there when I feel qualified, but like most places you apply for jobs at you have to be ready for a lot of rejection. My main suggestion is do not cheat yourself and work for the really low wages if you cannot really afford to do so. Stick to your minimum wage you will work for and if you get rejected for that just consider the employer not worth working for because they do not value the quality of work you can offer. However, at the same time do not expect ridiculous wages, especially when you are first starting out.

Thank you very much for the sound advice. I definitely am not expecting ridiculous wages. I'm not trying to be rich, just trying to pay my bills regularly. You have given some great pointers, I hope you don't mind if I read of anyone wanting to know about Odesk, that I send them your way. Thank you once again.

Hi,
I must say I was working on Odesk a while back, and got tired of low paying jobs, because 90% of the jobs on that site are paying below 5$ an hour. But I've found a great site called GAF, and if you check my profile there is a link. If you like it please sign up. I made 500$ there really fast, and worked very little hour, it almost gave me a 15$/hour salary!

Ok, thanks for the heads up on that. I'll check it out and let you know what I think and decide to do. Can you do me a favor and send a pm so I remember to look, only because lately I can't remember which discussion someone gave me a referral to look at. Thank you.

Heya,
Okay well Odesk is a freelancing website as you may well know.
If you sign-up to work, you can get paid for tasks that you complete. But before yo uget a chance to do each task, you need to apply, go through a mini interview with the buyer.. and you get paid at an hourly rate or as one up-front lump sum.
If you're looking to hire people.. then this is also your place. You can get quality work done for a good price.
If you're looking to make a living, it's possible.. but you have to make yourself known and make sure you do some tests in the areas you want to work in (they grade you and give you a percentage score. Potential 'bosses' can view this and use it to determine whether you're suitable or not).
If you want, I'm looking to hire someone to write articles.. so I could hire you and, if you do good, I'll leave you a good review (which always look good of course =P).
If you need to know more.. lemme know ^^.

Odesk is a very fun site. It offers online jobs for you that all you need to do is stay at home, do the job, make the best that you can do, and submit everything to the one employing you. It's as easy as that. The only thing is that at odesk is that you really need to build up your name and come to a point that more and more odesk employer will hire you to do a project. For me, I really don't know any web design and all. I believe that I'am really not fitted for that job..

Yes the site seems very promising. But I see great potential for me in the customer service section. I just joined today and already had two people message me based on my criteria. And it was not the two that I applied to. So that made me feel pretty confident.

I've worked at oDesk for about five months now and running. Though, I'm not that active and I've canceled some invitations due to my hectic schedule. Because I'm doing freelance jobs as my part-time only. Of course, to earn income at my free time. There a lots of projects offered there, of course, if you want to be compensated you have to find projects that really suits your skills and talent. Some employers pays good. You just have to be wise. You have to negotiate that you will benefit in the end. Regarding the referral, its just one of there programs, a kind of opportunity for you to earn money while bringing referrals. There's no harm trying, who knows you might more successful if you do good. Please see my myLot profile and try to visit my website, I've mentioned some site where I find jobs. Thanks!
