There are some quality paid per post forums out there though. But they are set-up like traditional forums and pay a set amount per topic/comment as opposed to MyLot's paid for quality discussions.
If you are interested in the paid to post forums I have written a guide for them with a list of some of the better ones out there. The guide is found on my profile, right hand side in the purple box.

It's like if you make $1 for a given part of your site, you don't pay your members $4. You won't be in business very long unless you're paying from an alternate source of revenue.
Plus, other's that may still around don't come anywhere near the quality of Mylot.
However. Morachat is the only one I can think of off the top of my head right now.
