First day of classes...Night school

I usually just try to distract myself with things to do up until that first class.

I can easily relate to your situation. I started school a few weeks ago, and I was really nervous about it. I am not as shy as I used to be, but my shyness is still a problem when I am in a classroom or when I meet new people.

I have decided to set some small goals for myself in the beginning. During the first weeks I don't expect myself to talk in class or to talk to the other students, in the beginning my only goal is to attend classes. Later I want to challenge myself a bit more, and try to participate more actively in a small group, and when I achieve that goal I will set other goals and maybe try to participate in a bigger group.

I know from experience that self-acceptance is one of the most important things. I have to accept my shyness instead of critizing myself all the time like I did in the past. I used to HATE my shyness, but I don't think that is the right way to get rid of it. I have to accept it as a part of myself.

Do you know the site "Shy and free?" I found the site some years ago, and I think it is very useful. If you don't know it, you could have a look at it, it might help you, too.

I was very tensed to go to school when it started. Also, I haven't had any friends joined with me or already studying in the same school. So, I was tensed about how to get used to the new school, class mates, teachers, and the new situation. But, it was not that difficult as I expected. So, I think it won't be difficult as you think.
