Be honest with him for your reason, just tell him you better be friends first as you find it not good, having a relationship for someone who is far away from you.

Just tell him the truth. Tell him the reason why you want to break up with him. I'm not sure but maybe the pressure of maintaining a long distance relationship is too much on your part. I've been in one and it was hard, although my boyfriend and I are still together. He'd appreciate it if you honestly tell him how you're feeling and he'll be able to better take the fact that you're wanting to break up with him.

I think it would be fair to him and to your self to just tell him. If you drag it out then it hurts worse when you do finally tell him and I'm sure you don't want to hurt him anymore than you already will.

I think just being honest with him and letting him know how you feel. Its just the best way. If you feel that you should just be friends with him then tell them that and I think every guy hates hearing when a girl just wants to be friends, but at least you're being honest with him instead of leading him on. I can`t stand long-distance relationship, but my sister is another success story. She has know her husband sicne they were in elementary school then they started dating when there were about 15 after that he went to study in the USA and my sister still stayed and studied in Jakarta.. Sometimes they had arguments on the phone..after several break-ups in 1998 they got married and their son was born a year later and they now live happily.
