 On August 29th, my cousin sat down on her bed, read a passage of the bible, and then shot herself through the head with her dad's handgun.
She was 17 years old, beautiful, intelligent, creative, gifted and well loved. I personally travelled over 3000 km to attend her funeral, and I know many people flew even longer to reach it. It was a tragedy, and her memory will remain eternal, but all those that she left behind hurt so much.
I, too, suffer from depression (bipolar disorder), and I have had the same thoughts that must have crossed her mind, but am so thankful I made it through those dark periods intact.
I want everyone here to consider the following:
While suicide often seems like the only option, consider the pain and suffering you leave behind and what a selfish decision it ultimately is. Life will never be the same for any of us now because of her passing, and we all have to live with the pain and unanswered questions.
If you ever feel like it's your only option, or the only viable way out of your current situation, please call a close friend, a minister or priest, a family member or a suicide helpline. I hope no one ever has to endure the pain my family has endured and continues to deal with.

Last year my friend was so down they took tablets and alcohol in a bid to end their life. Thankfully, they were found in time and now when they look back they realise just what pain it would have caused to all those that love her. I made her promise me that she would phone me if she ever thought like that again, no matter what the time was. I am truly sorry you lost your cousin.

My heart truly go out to you and your family. I can remember when one of my cousins was talking about committing suicide at such a young age as 16. I guess those hormones must really be doing a job with young people at that age. It's such a tradgedy when a young person decides to take their life. Luckily for you that you've been able to see that there is a brighter side to life. Bad times never last forever. seems that no matter how depressed someone is, especially
someone so young that there should never be anything that is
so terrible that would make one take their own life especially
in such a violent manner. I know that being a teenager is
not always pleasant, but things are never that terrible that
they won't eventually pass. I feel so badly that your cousin
felt that she couldn't reach and talk to someone and felt
that her problems where that serious because I'm sure that
someone would have helped her if she would have just asked.
I hope that your family is able to deal with this terrible
