Hi Mylotter I was recently diagnosed with a stomache ulcer for about 1 year I was having these on and off knawing sensations in my stomache very mild at first and barely noticable, then as the year progressed it got worse but would always go away with over the counter ant acids like Zantac 150 well one day it finally got the the point where the OTC medication wasn't woprking I woke up one morning the pain had me doubled over I finally took my stubborn self out of denile and went to my Dr. I had a scope put down my throat and there it was the an ulcer. It wasn't huge but it wasn't small either.. Anyway the did a biop to make sure I didn't have the Helicbactor Virus ( I call it the Helicopter Virus) easier for me to remember ...I didn't have it my dr prescribed Nexium (the little purple pill and it works wonders!! My diet is not a restrictive one the only thing I have to watch is caffiene and ibruprofin,I can't take Aleve I can have Tylenol . After all is said and done I had lost about 10 lbs because I couldn't eat everytime I did the knawing sensation would come back . Now no problems thank goodness for Nexium!!

I've been "pre-ulcer" about 3 times, the doc put me on antibiotics and also told me to reduce the stress - apparently I have the bug and prolonged stresses will make it flair Once was in 1995 when my cat, The Doctor, was dying, another time when I was having problems at work. I don't exactly remember the 3rd time, it was before the 1995 event, because I recognized it when it started. I was told to stay away from dairy. I can't take Tylenol, it doesn't do anything for me, except maybe make whatever is bothering me worse... I started having some reflux last spring every night and even tho I've been on this diet all summer, just to be sure, I've been taking an acid reducer (famolidine). Good luck and hope your ulcer goes away...
