In my country the main vehicles used for public transport are called jeepney in which more than 20 passengers could seat down at the back of the jeepney while 3 people could set in front, including the driver. The jeepneys are popularly copy from
jeepney used during the american war pay rates is 7.00 or $.15 cents or in $.30
cents. Buses, charges almost 550 or $11 for aircon bus and non-aircon 250 or $ 5.21
or trains, light rail transit and taxis are also used but depending on the terminal
stop bases on fees.. Then, there is a private vehicles like multicab used as transportation 300 in alternatives of buses who travel in continue routes with only stop in one terminals for more than 4 or 6 hours travel.
They are also called skylab or motorcycles which charges from 20 pesos or almost .43 cents in dollar. Then the airplane fees for business cost a traveler from 8,000 to 4000 or equivalent of $167 to $83 depending on early reservation and booking, while the cheapest ranges from 3,000 above or more than $72.
How about you? How much is the charging fare fees in your public/private transportation in your country.

I'm surprised that buses are so expensive over at your country?? $11 for aircon buses, and 5.21 for non aircon?? Is that per trip or what?? IT's way too expensive when it's so slow moving as well, compared to jeepneys or taxis
The main transport we have here are buses, rails as well as taxis, and nothing more, except for private vehicles.. haha =D Buses are the cheapest form of transport here, and all of them are air-conditioned.. hehe ^_^ While, taxis can be the more expensive with all those surcharges to city, or during peak hours.. haha =D

BUt still, buses in your country is way too expensive.. With that kind of pricing, it can last me for about a few days, at least.. lol =D The max fare one will pay for per trip, will not be more than $4, nad journey will not take longer than 2 hrs too.. hehe ^_^
YEah, our taxis here go by meter too, but there will be a surcharge of 30% of overall fare, if one happen to be taking it during peak hours.. haha =D So, be expected to pay at least $5-$10, no matter how near the destination is.. hehe

hi, kun, that is for one way trip not counting the returning trip which an estimated of more than four to six hours of travel. That is really slow moving especially if the vehicles are caught up in the middle of the traffic. Good for you
buses in your city is cheap. While in my country, they are the third expensive transportation by land follow by private van and taxis. Their are discounts for older, students and disabled passengers provided they have their own identification card to show...By, the way, taxis charging just like you mention is the same things in my city based on the taxis meter charging..

yap, truly very expensive..as every month their is a sudden increase of gas/fuel prices. hence, the vehicles and operators demand hike increase of fares to enable them to sustain their operation citing the cost of repair and maintenance and fuel/gas prices. What annoying is, when the market price of the gas/fuel decreases the fares hardly decreases. So, in the end the passengers really is the one who are badly affected. About taxis they have minimum fares and the maximum is estimate too based on the distances.

Trains is also a transportation vehicles used in my countries but they are now limited in numbers and only uses by people who live in rural areas. In the city the common vehicles is the railway transit which is electronically driven with terminals section where each passengers could choose where to stop and it reach their places in a matter of 15 minutes in which if a passengers ride a jeepneys transportation it would takes her more than 3 hours, because the vehicles is caught in traffic. That is the advantages of having your own car as you could choose the route where their are less traffic or opt to go to tollway which have a paying fees where their is no traffic like skyways roads.

hi there...
wll of course i am also from the Philippines! hehe so more or less we just have the same mode of transportation...coz here in Cebu, we also have those multicabs as well as the motorcycles (habal-habal)
i am just wondering, why is it that your aircon bus is kinda expensive? how long was that travel and what route? coz here in Cebu, well so far, the farthest that i travel is from city proper to the last province in the south about 120 kms, and the fare for aircon bus is 130 or 150 php, while on regular buses is just 120 php...
so was that 550 fare, is from your province to another province? coz in metro manila i guess that amount can already bring you to maybe Baguio city...but im not sure maybe there's still a little difference...
and when it comes to plane, well, its just good that our local airlines do have some promos, that's why we can get an airplane ticket bound for Cebu-Manila for just 1500, and if being lucky enough we can also get cheaper rate...as long as there's seat available and you booked early...

oh i see...that's why its kinda expensive...
so its from Cotabato City to Davao City? okay, 7 hrs wow! hehe isn't it uncomfortable traveling by bus for that long? coz the longest time i experience traveling by bus is just about 4 hrs...and its already a burden for me...huh!
is cotabato city near in general santos city?
yes, its always better to take buses that are legally registered to make sure that we are really insured while we are on travel... well i guess those bus companies there are respected & known companies right? coz as you know, in metro manila, there are ome buses that are colorum! huh! that's why when accidents happen, the passengers suffers and gets nothing! i also don't prefer private vans for long travel coz i feel suffocated! haha you know, i have this motion sickness! and i hate it! i don't even like aircon buses much! hehe
well, with habal habal, i also saw those on tv, those kind that you describe, coz here, i also saw some but very few and never tried it...oh no, we ride the motorcycle when we go to some mountainous parts here but we rented it, so meaning its just me and my husband + 1 other who rides in it and no other things with us...i'm afraid to ride in a habal-habal with many passengers and many baggage...hehe especially when its already approaching the higher place with a rough road!
yes cebu pacific & phil airlines are the two biggest airlines company here that really offers good fares nowadays...hehe but i prefer PAL more...coz there's a snack! hehe but in terms of planes, both are equally nice & clean...

yeah, were on the same country only with different location you are located on the north region while I am here on the south map. Yup, I know the habal- habal and in mountainous side they call it skylab wherein at least 7 passengers could rides on it. I had never try it but I have seen it in tv a wooden wood is attached to the motorcycles and both passengers ride sidewards position on the sides while another ride on the back of the driver. I find it kinda funny but it is the kind of transportation used in mountain provinces.
The aircon buses travel from my city to Davao city for almost 7 hours and it is not a straight rides as the driver have to pick up those passengers who wait from every terminal point. While in a continued rides their are private vans but not really comfortable to ride on it if you have many luggage and their is less spacious spaces and the passengers are not insured.
So far I prefer to ride on a bus even though it kinda quite slow it is still the best as every passengers is insured by the management of the company. While their are also non-aircon buses in which the fees is ranging from 350 to 350 pesos the de luxe types.
Yeah, I often rides plane with the Cebu Pacific or Philippines Airlines..They are the most known airplanes in our country..

US, city of Chicago has CTA which oversees bus or train. The last time I was there it cost about $2.25 for one way. Just to get a month pass is over $100. Now the city is charging people to park in as many places as possible and I have noticed more people riding bikes but not enough people to say that the fare in Chicago is insane.

I lived/worked in Chicago for 2 1/2 yrs. about 20yrs. ago and it wasn't that bad to find free parking but the last time I was up there, which was around 2yrs. ago, I was floored by all the parking garages that popped up over the years and was actually forced to use one when I couldn't find any free parking at all. When I was up there for the 2 1/2 yrs., I did drive my car to work and back but then used my bike to go elsewhere when I was home or while at work. Could of used the bus/train system but I kept goofing up and getting myself lost. lol I'm telling ya, us country folk just don't belong in the big city.

yap, their must be a confusion on your part and you live there for almost 2 and half years but its been a long time ago..using bicycles is free having not to worry to pay for the parking spaces when using a car. That is a lot of savings and probably your work is also near to your homes, as you could uses it for a shorter distances. That is also happening to me if I am unfamiliar with the places I always get lost and when I am about to meet a friend, I always ride taxis which is quite a bit costly..

hi, livelove, That is a a quite cheaper compare to the bus fees here in my city for a 6 hours travel the bus companies charges 350 pesos or $ 7.61 and for one month is $ 228. Yeah, the same things with the policy of my city also requires drivers to pay for terminal fees and private vehicles to the park spaces provided by individual business establishment. Bicycles is the most thrifty free transportation for everybody and encourages healthy living and provides a medium of exercises. Have a nice day!

Hello
The main transportation here in N.Y.C will have to be public transportation, which is $2.25 one way, then you have the taxi which goes up a little too often for my taste they charge $6.00 depending on how far you go,I have been known to do a little of all the above, I must say I like the bus more than anything, you get to look at different things and say to yourself o.k I will come back and check that out, its fun, there can be slow but that is fine with me.
Thank you, good question.

hi kitty, using public transportation for most of the times is quite cheaper than having your car and it really depends on one's choice which you find comfortable. The riding fees is quite expensive in my countries but in the taxis charging quite close with estimation. As some taxi drivers charges the same amounts as you mention when going in a long distance vicinity outside the city. Buses is the safest way for me to travel as all passengers have been insure that in case their is an accidents all the passengers could claim the damage fees. Some buses in my place are uses for tourism purposes also known as shuttle bus where they all waiting outside the airports and pick up tourist to get to their hotel, then, on the next day they also uses the same shuttle buses to drive them around the city and other tourist spots..

Around here there isn't really a main traditional one. It can be anything...I guess that for most people is the car. That is, for people that drive. Then there's public transportation which consists of boats, buses, trains and subways and so on. I'm not sure how the fares are anymore, been a long time I've been on a bus for example, but I think it's something in between 1€ and 1.50€ from my place to the island's capital, so not really expensive. Then again the conditons could be better..

hi, eisenherz, That is somehow between $ 1.46 and $ 2.10 dollars which are almost 70.78 and 72.71 in my pesos currency exchanges. The bus fares in your country is cheaper than in my country. The bus fares in my city alone to travel in a neighboring city ranging from 4.95 and 7.07 in euros, which is a trip estimated in an aircon buses for almost 4 to 6 hours and not counting the return trips. You're very lucky to have a cheaper transport fares.

Hiya meelianoscet..In the US entirely, we have trains, airplanes, buses, taxi cabs, and Limousines for public transportation services for those who choose to use them. The rates vary widely for each one depends on how far you are going. In my city, thou, none of these are available being it's such a small town and that everyone pretty much either gets around by car, truck, motorcycle, bicycle, or walking.

hi blackbriar, yeah that is true the cost of transportation fares depends on the length of travel one have to pursue and the types of vehicles which are going to be used. The latter which you mention are the same things with the rural areas they also opt for those kinds of transportation. well the least but not the last and the most free is walking, less expensive and a good exercises..

I live on the edge of a coastal town in the south west part of England. Fares are expensive in my home country. A return bus ticket is £2.50 in my town off peak. In my county an all day bus ticket is £6.90 off peak. Train fares vary, cheap day returns to nearby places cost around £5 to £20. It is wise to book long distance train trips in advance. I can get them much cheaper that way. Friday is a pricey day for a long distance train. Long trips can cost £50 to £200 depending on the day chosen and the time booked.

hi, maximax, That is 202.26 pesos in my country and in dollars is almost $ 4.40 which is really a quite bit expensive for a bus fares and 6.90 pounds 557.74 in pesos or $ 12.13 in dollars which proves that it is true from what I learn from friends that the cost of living in UK is very expensive and that is why they have hardly saves a quite big amounts of their salary. Oh, and 5 to 20 pounds still very costly which is 1616.63 pesos or $ 35.14 in our currencies. And, for your long trips is 4041.56 to 16166.26 in pesos or equivalent to $ 87.86 and $ 351.44 respectively. The amount you states is almost the equivalent of the monthly income of the lower class income family here which is considerable a higher amount. England is a great place but very expensive to live..lol.. Have a nice day!

Well, we are living in the same country I think and the same transportation we have. the fare is too expensive for me because I have kids who are going to school everyday. But anyway, my sister lives in USA for 3 years already and she missed the jeepneys a lot. There is no public vehicle in where she lives and she must learn how to drive because she can't go anywhere without a driver. It has been a struggle for her to drive because she never have driver even a bicycle here in the Philippines and in her place now she must drive. In USA almost all people have cars because it is a necessity to them.

Hi, I'm from Negros oriental. My city's main transportation is the tricycle and the fare is 7 pesos and 6.60 for students although the driver won't bother giving you the change.
The jeepneys are for traveling to the next towns. then the multicabs are for going to the barangays.
There are less than 20 taxi units mostly plying the airport route. The fare is 250 pesos which is expensive since the airport is just near the city proper.

Hi, sandymay,
They have somehow similarities in my place tricycles is the main transportation in some downtown areas in my city requires which forbidden the entries of large vehicles. Their are main routes which exclusively follow by the tricycle operator an areas where they are only allow to pick up and unload passengers. The fares for tricycles for adults is 6.00 pesos or $.13 cents and 5.00 pesos or $.11 cents fare for students, senior citizens and disabled passengers. Well, jeepneys here in my city is abounds and so is multicabs and both charges passengers with 7.00 pesos or $.16 and a for students, senior citizens or older adults and disabled, the drivers charges them 6.00 pesos or $ .13 cents in dollars. And, taxis the same with my place charges depending on the distance as indicated in the meter taxis and usually it is closet to your estimation. Have a nice day!

The common way of transportation in my country is bus. We also use trains and aeroplanes. Public travel buy bus and train is very cheap in my country. One hour travel in a public bus will only charge you 25 cents. Local trains are there for travel within the city. Trains are used mostly for inter-state travel. Inter-state travel in trains is very cheap. Senior citizens (people above 60 years of age) get 50 percent discount in train travel.

Yup, riding a crowded jeepney i experience it many times you need to be quick or else the others passengers could easily get past on you leaving you without a vacant seats...then have no fall in line those rushing hours make it worst..where you could meet many rude passengers...so far the cab is quite expensive but at least it is more spacious, convenience and you could sit down without the presence of annoying crowds which is normally seen in a public transportation. thanks for responding.

Before I lived in China. In China for most of people the main transportation tool is public bus. The fee is varied in different cities, but most of them are not expensive. In Beijing the government has transportation intelligent card. If you use the card you can get 60%-80% off. So to the Beijing citizens it's almost free.
In the UK I think the main transportation to most of people here is their family car. i listened a news two weeks ago that said now taking personall car is even cheaper than public trasportation. It's really strange and beyond our imagination.
I took a few times bus here. I feel it's too expensive. For a ten minitues of riding I paid £2, it even more expensive than the taxi price I had in beijing.
Personally to me the main transportation is walking by myself. it's free and flexible as well as healty.

How nice is China government policy really helps its citizens in terms of transportation. You almost got it for free. That policy is what I want my government to imitate. I am sure lot of people their could saves a lot o spending in transportation with lower fees. What happen in United kingdom is the complete opposite of the transportation fees in my country, the uses of private vehicles is expensive in terms of fuel and gas prices here increase every month with inflation and deflation..Then, for examples I like to travel to a nearby rural city using my private car. I could spend $65 for a 6 hours travels back and fourth while if I ride on a public aircon bus I only spend $ 9.38 which is quite cheaper than using private vehicles...The use o private cars is only good for shorter distances travel and not for long distance travel..

Hi karakatad, which means a tough leather..lol..
Yeah, the jeepney transportation in our country are almost the same in three regions of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. Traveling in your car could saves you a lot of hustle and bustle if you take a route in a non-traffic avenues. As I know when a car is under traffic, it consumes a lot of gasoline as the car still run.. ,It is good for short distance travel, and if you travel long distance. You need to have a gasoline reserves of fill in your full gas tank before traveling...Then, with a private car, you could avoid crowds and delay in the roads as the main public transportation route is on the main road..Choice of transportation really depend on the convenience and flexibility of the vehicles and the amount of spaces it's could accommodate with the passengers feel comfortable as one travel off the road..
