hi i am one doing my M.Tech in software engineering and now wanted do phd.the requirements for phd are very high now.its the right time to take right decisions.in us(america) they go for research which is they develop the new tools for further use. they are some universities for which we can apply from india .they have tie up with foreign universities .the student will be paid sty fund for the one doing phd.in india for getting a seat is universities is by selecting a good guide and here also you will be paied sty fund. in iit's we have go be qualified in gate exam and sty fund will also be provided. a new rule is being implemented that every one applying for phd in correspondence have to attend regular class for 1st 6 months.the one who is applying for phd have to complete the course with in minimum of 3years to maximum of 5 years.one 's in other countries do in 2years 6months. if not completed in time have to register for phd once again.i suggest you to go for phd which i expect is a right option and wanted to know others decision about it.

hi you have a nice idea for going to phd in usa.you have a chance to work when you study when you are doing phd in us they too provide you styfund and also a work permit ...most of the universities were proving a chance to be a lecturer at their universities....they will be going for a research for a new tool which help them to get patients for the products. how ever you have a nice planning to go after two years.wish yiou good luck for your gre and tofel
