Did you learn HTML to built ur website? ur first web page

For my first website, I actually learned the HTML I needed to make the pages. Anything I didn't understand, I would look up on various websites to guide me. However, I hear that buying software is actually easier and faster... But if you were like me, I didn't have much money to begin with.:D

Depending on what you're building the site for, you'll find that either a basic, functional layout or a polished layout may be better suited to your needs.

Yes I know html language so I have used a few elements earlier in designing my webpage.But these days with ready made html coding in blogger,its become easy and I don't use html language that much anymore.lost touch now ..

I know html but manual coding is time consuming, I use dreamweaver for the site that I build until now.

I made my first website using only html on windows notepad. It was fine, but bigger projects would be too hard to handle.

I just started learning to give my resume a good look. And while learning I never new there are softwares like dreamweaver which directly offer GUI. As I have started through reading books n tutorials. After getting a much knowledge of HTML and PHP I eventually went to a conference on learning HTML. There somebody told me about such software. Before it I always does complete coding by me.

I am actually building a web-page from a blank document, I like my sites to be unique, I do not use templates, I know it takes more time when you write all the codes, but you learn a lot by building your own templates. If you want to learn Html do your own template. write every bit of code, and do a clean work.

it is good to learn html before designing any website, by this atleast you may know what u r doing and u ll have full control almost on ur design
but today many online web designing tools and even offline too make it very easy to design but the bad thing is that u hve to completely depend on them.

Lol to be honest i don't know much about HTML, wish some body should guide me, i have a desire to learn.

Yes I did. In fact when I came to know the simple syntax of HTML, I immediately started learning HTML's basics and built my very first site using them. Many days later, I came to know about a website building(HTML based)software named HotDog. Finding it to be very user-friendly I lost my interest in learning HTML. And hey! if you can have it done by clicking some buttons, why do you need to learn HTML?

On a serious note though, I believe learning HTML syntax and codes will always help you in building websites.

yup i studied and learned all about HTML 6 years ago and up to now i cannot call my self an expert maybe i'm on the intermediate level. its good to learn the basic and its also a good foundation in creating website. with a better understanding of HTML is a big advantage even if you are using softwares like frontpage and dreamweaver.
