One in three have had an abortion |
|
In my home country one in three ladies have had an abortion in the age range teenager to age forty five. I am really shocked to hear that. I think the government of the UK is wrong to allow abortion up to 24 weeks pregnancy. They think that should be the cut off date because babies can survive if born that early in a 'wanted baby' pregnancy. I think that life begins at conception and babies feel pain during an abortion. I believe that aborted babies are the missing people of the world. I know that France allows abortions up to 12 weeks pregnancy. Malta doesn't allow abortions at all.
Are you shocked to hear the one in three ladies in the UK have had an abortion? If you were the government would you allow abortion? If yes what would the rules be?
I am pro-life and wouldn't ever have an abortion.

maximax8 (10614) | 4 months ago | Hello there Coco. Yes, 98% of abortions are for social reasons like the lady isn't ready to have a baby. No form of birth control is 100% effective. Many thanks for your wonderful response.

Ravenladyj (17967) | 4 months ago | Abortion Statistics - Decisions to Have an Abortion (U.S.)
· 25.5% of women deciding to have an abortion want to postpone childbearing.
· 21.3% of women cannot afford a baby.
· 14.1% of women have a relationship issue or their partner does not want a child.
· 12.2% of women are too young (their parents or others object to the pregnancy.)
· 10.8% of women feel a child will disrupt their education or career.
· 7.9% of women want no (more) children.
· 3.3% of women have an abortion due to a risk to fetal health.
· 2.8% of women have an abortion due to a risk to maternal health.
source: http://www.mnstate.edu/gr... those are only SOME of the reasons..the most common ones i'm figuring..because my reason isnt up there anywhere and out of ALLLLLLLLL the women who've aborted I doubt very much that I'm the only one who did for the reason I did..I'm quite sure that there are numerous other women who've aborted for similar reasons....that said...to assume that abortions are had mainly because one (or a couple rather) is being careless is just wrong and unfair....My abortion was NOT because we were careless (though we were but we were thrilled I was preg again) but becuase of something traumatic...
also, according to that study (the link above) only 8% did NOT use protection of any kind...

maximax8 (10614) | 4 months ago | Thanks for very much for detailing the reasons why the American ladies have had an abortion. It is worrying that the vast majority were using birth control. People reading the percentages will see most are social reasons. I think for those ladies adoption would have been an excellent alternative.

maximax8 (10614) | 4 months ago | Hi there. Thanks for details some of the social reasons some ladies have an abortion. I think a man is very nasty if he tries to get his girlfriend to abort their baby. A career can be put on pause for a while. I especially like the last sentence that you say "bugging them forever".

4. suspenseful (17121) | 4 months ago | And they wonder why the Muslims are increasing. The English are killing themselves before they are born. That means in a few generations if things keep up it will be rare to see a child with blond, red, or brown hair, and fair skin. I mean who gave the idea that people of European backgrounds are so evil, that they should not be allowed to bear children? That is what makes me angry. Why I heard that in Russia as well, that abortions are used as a form of birth control, and that doctors pressure ladies to have abortions if there is something wrong, or because they want the money. It is so bad that the Russian ladies advertise for husbands overseas because that is the only way that they can make sure when they get pregnant, the doctors do not pressure them to have abortions. And when that happens in whatever country, it is because of social reasons, and it demeans the woman, thinking that they are too stupid to care for their own children. Children are a gift of God and even if a woman is a bit addle headed, God will give her enough intelligence to care for her baby or give her the wisdom to give her up for adoption if she knows she has not the finances to raise her.

5. mrakobesie (754) | 4 months ago | I would allow abortion mainly because it can also save lives. Plus i worked in pediatrics and i've seen babies who were born and were not going to live too long. I would never forger this one baby we had, he was 1 years old, but he looked like he was 3 at most. He was just learning how to sit, he was very weak and wasn't going to live too long. He was born with digestive problems, he couldn't absorb nutrients. He had 3 surgeries by the time we got him and was sceduled to have another major surgery. I don't know what happened to him after the surgery, but the chances he made it are very small. He had to get a transplant for the whole small intestine. His immune system was next to nothing due to all the internal feedings and malabsorbtion so there is no way he could fight of micro organisms that get into the wounds or even the ammount of stress his little body had to go through during the surgery. If his mother would've gotten abortion, she herself wouldn't suffer loosing a baby after such a long battel, the baby wouldn't suffer and all the people who grew to love the baby wouldn't suffer. And then of cause you have women who must get abortion to save their own life. In soem cases it's ether mother or baby, in others it'e ether mother or none. My own great grand mother died giving birth to my grand father. Surelly my grand father was alife and well, but she left 3 sons without a mother when she died. I'm suporting abortion on 2nd trimester because this is when people are able to get results for the tests on for healthy the baby will be, you can't get results on the first trimester. Plus you never know when something is going to go wrong. The number of people who get abortions is shocking, but only because it shows how many people don't know how to use contraceptives. A rather small number of people who get abortions actually should or used a protection that failed, but for those people we have to leave an option.

maximax8 (10614) | 4 months ago | In June of this year my baby daughter was born. I had trouble delivering the placenta. It came out with four blood clots and then I began to bleed really heavily. I lost about two and a half liters of blood. I fainted a few times and had really low blood pressure. I was taken to hospital in an ambulance. When the consultant told me I could die I shook with fear for the next half an hour. I am so lucky that I am still alive. I am so sorry to hear about your great grandmother dying in child birth.
My son that was born in 2007 has spina bifida and hydrocephalus. I was offered an abortion at 36 weeks pregnancy. I said no way. Medical care can help many premature and disabled babies. I think life is special and all babies should have the right to be born. Birth control in a serious relationship is essential. Thanks for your ideas and I can see you are pro-choice.

mrakobesie (754) | 4 months ago | Every life is special, but i think physical life is overrated and soul is immortal. So even if people get abortion, they only kill the physical body and not the soul. With this in mind, i don't think abortion is all that bad. Glad to hear that your child's illness didn't stop you from wanting to see his smile. I've seen many kids who were born with physical and mental disabilities doing great in life all things considered. They do need much more care though and not every one thinks they can provide this care. There is always a choice to give the baby for adoption, but not many people would adopt and not every country provides good care to disabled kids. I lived in a few countries where care the government provides to those kids is next to nothing. In these cases i think it would be ok to abort the baby and give it a chance in next life instead of letting it suffer in this life. Or if there is no reincarnation, then the baby will go to the creator and will be better of anyway.

maximax8 (10614) | 4 months ago | I am a primary school teacher and whilst I have always taught in mainstream schools I did teach some special needs children before my toddler son was born. I am not a nurse and I had to learn how to catheter my son. My little son is so talented with music. I am proud of him. It is really sad to think if some other lady that had conceived him she might have had an abortion at 36 weeks pregnancy. My son is liked by many people.

mrakobesie (754) | 4 months ago | i've seem mothers who can't take care of healthy children, if they had a child with special needs, i'd be a very sad story for the child. Honestly, some mothers are absolutely ridiculous when it comes to providing care. My mother was a special add teacher and i used to go to her work all the time and i was playing with a lot of her students, some of them had no mental or physical problems at all, but their parents are too busy drinking and don't even try to care for the kids. The only reason their kids ended up in special education school is because during the school month kids had to stay in school for the whole day and night and would only go home for vacations. Parents loved not carrying for kids that they themselves had. Some parents asked my mom to keep kids there on vacation too, they were interfering with the parent's drinking plans. imagine if your son was born in a family like that? they couldn't even care for more or less healthy kids. Your son is very lucky to be born in your family where people can and are willing to give him all the care he needs, where he can get all the love he needs. If a child with physical abnormalities would have a chance between being born in a family like the once my mom had to deal with or being aborted, i'm sure many kids would rather not be born at all. honestly, if i had a child with physical abnormalities, i would most likely keep the child because i know i can provide all the care that is needed, because i know i have good family support that would help me with the child and because i know i have patience to teach the child skills he/she needs to have and because i know i can provide the child with all the love that a child needs. But for families that care more about buying alcohol then about feeding the child... How happy would a child be in these families? how much would that child want to live?

6. Ravenladyj (17967) | 4 months ago | Are you shocked to hear the one in three ladies in the UK have had an abortion?
no not really...I mean the reasons for abortions are far too many to count..IF I had the mindset that ALL abortions are done simply because one was careless then yes it would shock me but I know better so no I'm not shocked at all..
If you were the government would you allow abortion?
absolutely...again, the reasons for abortion are many ranging from carelessness to life threatening so of course I would allow abortions..
If yes what would the rules be?
Well just off the top of my head they would only be allowed up to 16 weeks gestation UNLESS it was a life threatening situation/major medical reason for having one later on in the pregnancy...counceling BEFORE the abortion being done would be a must to make sure the woman is POSITIVE she wants it done etc....
I am pro-life and wouldn't ever have an abortion
I'm Pro Choice which, just to be clear is NOT "Pro Abortion" and I've unfortunately had to have one..but due to the circumstances i dont regret it..it was the best choice for myself, my husband and my two other children at that time in our lives..its was necessary..

maximax8 (10614) | 4 months ago | Earlier on in my discussion you gave a valuable piece of information so many thanks. I think 16 weeks pregnancy sounds more reasonable than 24 weeks which is the limit in the UK. In pregnancy a lady can have hormonal changes that upset her mind. She might be positive that she wants to have an abortion but afterwards she might feel bitter regret.
You don't seem to regret the abortion that you had. Best wishes.

Ravenladyj (17967) | 4 months ago | no I dont regret it..I DO regret that the decision had to be made mind you...we were happy when we found out I was preg again and planned on having the baby but a very traumatic turn of events happened and we had to abort for the best interest of myself, hubby and two young (at the time) children....
24 weeks IS too far along IMO for abortions to be had..my youngest was born at 24 weeks gestation and though it was a rough ride for us all (him included) he did live for 8 months and would have lived longer had it not been for a doc's screw up..so yes I think that unless under EXTREME circumstances, abortion at 24 weeks along is too far along..

But I would like you to provide a link to the source you obtained this info from. As for the law in the UK with regard to abortion, its fine as it is, You know what I read on another forum, if you dont like abortions, dont have one.
