There's no point comparing Owen to Ronaldo other than making Owen look rather poor... the only comparison between Owen and Ronaldo is the famous football clubs both have played at.
In terms of skill and goal scoring record: in his prime Owen was not even in Rooneys league, let alone Cristano Ronaldo's.
Why? As a midfielder Ronaldo scored a massive 46 goals in one season alone... never forget that Manchester United is set up so that no player is the key figure in a team, and Ferguson never builds a team around 1 (that's why it's so successful even today and will always be) player, yet Ronaldo scored tonnes of goals from a position in which his primary purpose is to supply the ball to the strikers who are usually the finishers. Ronaldo's assist and goal scoring is second to nobody simple as that he did this without any (or little) support.
Liverpool (where Owen played his best football) built a team in which Owen was central to their success that's why they had Heskey on the team who provided Owen with the passing while there was a red shield protecting the goal. Yet Owen never scored the amounts of goal that Ronaldo scored.
Owen can never replace Ronaldo no matter how good his form is, because in his prime he was below Ronaldo Man Utd assists and goal scoring record.

thansk all for your response. i know there is no fair to comparise ronaldo and owen because they is different position but i mean here the subsitution for their influence in MU. off course not fair to comparise how much they score. again i said, i just want to share comparison about their influence for MU squad.

Nani and Anderson are just 22 and 21 respectively. I think that if Manchester United are going to carry on their success without Ronaldo, Nani and Anderson will show themselves to be top quality, they have shown their talent in glimpses and are now starting to become the finished article.

I agree Nani and Anderson are like Ronaldo... remember back when Ronaldo first started at Old Trafford, he was pretty good but he had no end product: goals, assists, influence etc... he was just a kid doing 5,000 step overs a match. Slowly he became much of a threat as he trained with his team mates and learned from Sir Alex.
Nani and Anderson have the talent, and Ferguson is legendary for making average players superstars.

I think comparing Owen with Ronnie is unreasonable. Owen is very much a fringe player, while Ronnie was the man. Though I do think that Owen will be a good signing considering that we didn't pay anything for him. However, it is worrying that Berba hasn't look anything like the man he was in Spurs. 30mil in the drain?

I really wonder how you came up with this idea. There is no comparison between C. Ronaldo and Owen - they play different positions and have different sets of qualities.
As of bringing Owen to the club, I don?t think it was a wise decision, but we shouldn't criticize his performance or Ferguson's decision before he has the chance to show what he's made of. Some older players still have what it takes to play at this level, but because they haven't been used by their former clubs or because of the injuries, they went a bit out of the spotlight. Some coaches can make them glow again - maybe Sir Alex will bring Owen't qualities back on the pitch again.

Michael Owen is not a direct replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo as they play different positions but if Michael Owen can give us say 13 goals? this season then he would probably be considered a success. I think this because with the strikers that Manchester United have in Berbatov and Rooney he would not start as many games as say he would if he had been fit at Newcastle United.
Dimitar Berbatov will play more than Owen as he offers a wide ranging game rather than just Owen's finishing. Although I am not an Owen fan I think he could be an asset for us.
