How did you cope with your Denture? This is my biggest problem now!

Hi rocketj! I have the upper dentures and I am living in hell!
You can't taste the food because they cover the palate! They
are horrible! Never mind the suction, they still feel miserable!
If you haven't experienced them personally you can't say how
they feel! That's what I keep telling my adorable dentist! I
love him, but he still doesn't know first hand what I am feeling!
I would give anything to have my real teeth again!

Very true! I don't know what you are talking about first hand either. I vowed to never have dentures if I could help it. I have seen how difficult they are and would never want to go through that. I can only imagine what it must be like.

I waited a month for the gum to heal actually. But what I hate is why the denture would moves each time I talk and every time I will chew. I hate it and I had to remove it so that I could eat properly. What is the use of this false teeth if I could even use this to chew the food I eat? I told my dentist about it and she said I need to adjust and not the denture to adjust to me. How is that? She said it will realy move and is but natural because she used supersoft lining as I requested. But my goodness I really could not understand why it has to move. Now I am using adhesive and it is helping in some way but the adhesive does not really secure the teeth well because whenever I chew I still could feel it moving. So I really could not eat properly.

My friend, you mean yours have been for long and still you are experiencing those trouble. I have exactly the same ordeal as yours but my denture is just one week old. You said I should be glad because I don't have them on top. I thought on the other hand that having it on top would have been better. Thank you friend for at least I know I have something to thank for on the basis of your own experience. But as of now, I can no longer taste the food. Eating is no longer exciting to me. I would always prefer to just drink but the solid foods that I used to enjoy are now totally unexciting to me. Yes, my dentist too told me I'd get used to it soon but I doubt if it will ever happen. I'm sad because I used to sing in the church but now I can't sing because of this situation. [em]sad[/em. You are right we would do everything just to have back the natural teeth but too late! I've taken cared of my teeth for long but my gum weakened and soon I found my lower teeth all loose and aching. I thought false teeth would save me from the miseries but now it is all the more that I am into miseries. My friend I hope we both could soon overcome this problem in due time. Thank you friend for sharing, at least I have someone who fully understands what I really feel and my misery is somewhat lightened.

Hi riyasam!.Just one artificial tooth made you feel horrible so you could just imagine how more horrible to have a whole set of artificial teeth! Well mine is only on the lower level and friend Opal said it is better than having full denture on the upper level. Well, I really don't know how long before I get used to it. I hope it will not be for long. I missed the usual things that I used to do like singing in the church and teaching Sunday Schools too.

Hi XanderDDS ! Thank you for the valuable advice you've shared.I have natural teeth all throughout my life so it is really very hard to cope with false teeth. It is really a very different feelings. It is so hard but have no choice but to cope. Yes, I think you are right that I need to have this relined. It really feels too loose. I am going to my dentist this afternoon to solve this matter. Thanks a lot!

Yes exactly my friend, that is how it feels the first time I use it. Well now I am slowly getting use to it but still the discomfort is still there. Do take care of your teeth my friend. It is only when you've lost them that you will know exactly how valuable they are!

I really am having a hard time coping with my new denture and I hope just like you said, I could be able to overcome soon. It's good that you don't have denture and please do take care of your teeth. There is nothing better than natural teeth my friend!

Oh!! thanks for missing me hahaha... anyway, we are the same.. I have been inactive here since April, I am not logging in everyday either...I am also looking forward to your posts because I would received mails on that and maybe I can log in and reply.. heheh anyway, you are right my friend, natural teeth is better than artificial one.
I have jackets anyway, and that is better than dentures. Here in America dentist is too expensive... I lost my 3 crowns but I will wait when I can be back in the Philippines to have it put back again. Here? if you pull out 1 tooth? it will cause you more than $100. So, if you have dentures here.. it will cost a lot. hahaha i wont'.. I will just go back to the Phils. and have my teeth fix there.
