|
Hi guys! Do you have denture! Please share how were you able to cope! Am I the only only having this miserable feeling. I am wearing full lower denture for the first time and now I could not eat well. It is like I have mouthpiece! I feel like I am no longer normal and it is really quite depressing. Sighhh! How long before I will be able to get use to this. I am really sad. Can you guys give me some valuable tips for me to be able to cope? I'll appreciate it really, thanks!

1. rocketj1 (2201) | 3 months ago | I was a dental assistant for many years and assisted often with denture adjustments. Did you recently have the teeth extracted in order to get the denture? If this is true, you may have to go back and get a "reline" after things have healed up. This would help it to fit more securely. Also, upper dentures are much easier to get used to since there is more "suction" to hold it in (all the surface space of the palate). A lower denture may require denture adhesive. Have you tried that at all? If you have just had the extractions, the dentist may want you to wait before using it though. If you have sore spots, you should also see your dentist for adjustments.

Opal26 (9682) | 3 months ago | Hi rocketj! I have the upper dentures and I am living in hell! You can't taste the food because they cover the palate! They are horrible! Never mind the suction, they still feel miserable! If you haven't experienced them personally you can't say how they feel! That's what I keep telling my adorable dentist! I love him, but he still doesn't know first hand what I am feeling! I would give anything to have my real teeth again!

rocketj1 (2201) | 3 months ago | Very true! I don't know what you are talking about first hand either. I vowed to never have dentures if I could help it. I have seen how difficult they are and would never want to go through that. I can only imagine what it must be like.

salonga (4622) | 3 months ago | I waited a month for the gum to heal actually. But what I hate is why the denture would moves each time I talk and every time I will chew. I hate it and I had to remove it so that I could eat properly. What is the use of this false teeth if I could even use this to chew the food I eat? I told my dentist about it and she said I need to adjust and not the denture to adjust to me. How is that? She said it will realy move and is but natural because she used supersoft lining as I requested. But my goodness I really could not understand why it has to move. Now I am using adhesive and it is helping in some way but the adhesive does not really secure the teeth well because whenever I chew I still could feel it moving. So I really could not eat properly.

| 4. XanderDDS (47) | 3 months ago | This is certainly not an unusual feeling after receiving a lower denture. Whereas an upper denture is relatively easy to accomodate with (having a decent fit, and a obvious esthetic appeal). The lower denture takes a lot longer to get used to. For one thing, if you've been without teeth for many years, your lower jaw-bone (mandible) probably has resorbed, preventing an equally decent fit as the upper denture. My recommendation would be wear it every day, and to visit your dentist to adjust any areas on the denture that have created sore-spots in your mouth. It may take up to 6 weeks of wearing the lower denture before you really feel used to it. In the case that it simply doesn't fit, the denture may need to be relined.

Bebs08 (2494) | 3 months ago | Oh!! thanks for missing me hahaha... anyway, we are the same.. I have been inactive here since April, I am not logging in everyday either...I am also looking forward to your posts because I would received mails on that and maybe I can log in and reply.. heheh anyway, you are right my friend, natural teeth is better than artificial one. I have jackets anyway, and that is better than dentures. Here in America dentist is too expensive... I lost my 3 crowns but I will wait when I can be back in the Philippines to have it put back again. Here? if you pull out 1 tooth? it will cause you more than $100. So, if you have dentures here.. it will cost a lot. hahaha i wont'.. I will just go back to the Phils. and have my teeth fix there.
