We all know that we are in a recession period. Emergency situations cannot be avoided. Most companies is already closing. Many individuals are already loosing their job. Do you think it is necessary for us to grab credit card today? With my own opinion, I prepare not to. What if i was not able to settle it?It will incur charges and it will create another problem. What about you? What is your opinion on this?I am working in a credit card company and I can feel and the hardness and difficulty of paying their debts. I have some clients that is almost about to cry but i cannot do anything. Will you get one for yourself or will you prefer cash?

Hi rberon...How are you today? This is a subject that I would have different opinions on. Well Here it goes.. I have those credit cards and they have come in handy for us more times than I can count over the last few months. In the long run I will have to pay them off when hubby gets back to full time work. That is the problem with me. I will have to fork out extra money at the time to get caught back up. On the other side of this, credit cards can be bad. If you abuse the limit then you have to pay for it at the end. I would be very cautious with them if I was you. To apply for one now is totally up to your needs. If you think that you can control and limit your spending, then they aint that bad.

We cannot deny that credit cards helps especially during emergency situations. As what you have said, it is very important to use it in a right way. Before , I dream to have at least one credit card, even with just a minimum credit limit, but when i started working in the credit card company, i came to realize that it is not necessary to have a credit card, i can survive even without it. I am looking forward to settle all your accountabilities with your credit card, just don't forget to pray every day and ask his guidance. I'm sure in the long run, your hubby can get another job. Better than his previous job. happy mylotting!

I think it depends on the cardholder. If the person is an impulsive buyer, credit card would definely put him into a big debt. He will absolutely be in a big trouble. It is more on self control. Buying things that are necessary only. Credit card is good as long as you know how to use it properly. I have lots of credit cards, sometimes they send it to my home even if I didn't apply for them (most of my cards are pre-approved). But Im not into debt. The key is to pay the FULL amount on the its due date so that there will be no finance charge. It is convinient as well coz you don't need to bring money always. Payments can be done online also. With regards to the annual membership fee, you can apply for reversal. So its really like a zero cost to you with lots of benefits. Credit card is really good coz if I need to buy something important and I don't have my money yet, I can use it and pay for the bill after a month. So its like I borrow money without interst (if paid in full). There are also promos like 0% interest, so its realy good. Just use your card wisely. Think first if you really need the things you want to buy or you just want it because its "in". Know the difference. Be a wise buyer.

We cannot control them, then when problem, they will call us and start to complain.Lucky you because you have a lot of credit cards, can you make me as one of your supplementaries on your card?lol!just kidding!I dream to have a credit card before, but from time to time, i came to realize that it is not necessary to have a credit card.

As I said, it depends on the cardholder. If you think you can use it properly and wisely then go apply for one. If you have problem in controlling yourself in terms of buying then better not apply. It's a matter of self control & self descipline. You have to set your prioprities, don't just buy and buy because all you have to do is swipe and sign coz you know definitely you will suffer on payment time. And to answer your request if you can be my supplementary, ha! ha!ha! wish... If I can control but my suplementary can't, I will be liable still. So why will I put burden on my shoulder?

If you want to establish credit, yes. You also do not need to buy a semi big ticket item that will take 90 days to a year to pay off as what we had to do back in the 60s before credit cards were for most, the exception being the American Express and you had to have a large income to get those. Then in order to get your credit established, you had to buy something that would take at least three months to pay off and make sure you paid it off in time. Now all you have to do is to get a credit card and maybe buy a Hersey's Bay with it, and the next month a new dress, and gradually increase your purchases. I prefer credit cards as I do not like carrying cash around. Money seems to slip through my fingers and besides I have a record of what I buy. I also pay it off at the end of the month and if someone suggest or says I need something expensive, I go into panic mode. I do not want to charge anything that I cannot pay for right away.

Tbank you. You know that if I have even a balance of five cents i go into a panic? I guess I am so scared of being in debt - I was once - that I want to get my balance paid off as soon as possible. You should see me in winter when it is hard to get to the store to pay off the balance. I go crazy.

I respect your opinion. I can say that you are a good card holder. I don't think so you will be getting a trouble. just keep it up. Have a great day!

It is really up on the control of the individual. If a person only uses it for emergency purposes and pays all his monthly dues, then there is not reason why one should not have one. The trouble comes when one can't stop or can't avoid the temptation that these CC have. Well better yet, if you can still buy with your own money, then do not apply for one.

Actually the discipline is one self will apply here. It is very important that you know how to control things. Know what to buy and not to buy. My clients has really suffered a lot, some of them are about to cry to me, but I cannot do something about it because it is their fault. With the current situation of our life today. We should be intelligent.we should always be aware of what is happening around us.

I am tempted too but am afraid to do so. I have seen my mom, and two of my brothers, on how they struggle to pay for their debts from their respective banks due to a lot of late payments for the card. it's very hard to pay credit card debt because they always threatened you to go legal if you don't pay.

That is so sad to hear. That is why I did not bother myself in applying for at least one credit card. I know it won't give me a positive output. I am an impulsive buyer, once I have money, I cannot control myself in buying even it is unnecessary to buy it. And with the kind of experience of my clients,I'd rather not to try anymore. I am happy in paying everything in cash. happy myloting!

funny enough. Credit card companys are giving away credit cards like candy. I think they are smart you may not have money, but they will get you with all the interests in the end. They are the ones making the money. I try to avoid using credit card. I would only prefer one. I never understand why people have 3 or 4 credit card. Happpy lotting.

In our country, it is actually different. They just don't offer candy but they offer a free gadgets just for availing the card, the customer without knowing the terms and condition of the said promo. They do not know their account will be lock in in one year and cannot request for the cancellation of the credit card. Once they have decided to cancel the card even though it is not yet one year, they will be obliged to pay the amount of the said gadgets which makes them irate. They will be informed that they should have read the terms and conditions of the product.

I am aware of a credit score and a company will consider that when a person applies for a credit card from them. Sometimes special offers are shown like zero percent for six months on purchases or transferred balances. I think it is difficult to pay off a credit card once a person build up a few thousand debt. It is far better to have a credit card to use just in case. I have a credit card that I will keep in case of an emergency. University students are encouraged to get a credit card. It is challenging to pay all that debt off. When I came home from my trip to New Zealand I had a job lined up but put much on my credit card before it began. I was paying off three hundred a month when my job began. Having a large debt isn't pleasant unless it is a mortgage for a house. Some of your clients are in terrible debt. Zero is nothing and less than nothing is even worse. People should try hard to pay off their debts on credit cards.

Looking at the reality, credit card will be very helpful especially during this time and emergency situations, but if you are not going to use it very wisely, your single problem will be doubled or even tripled. To avoid this, focus on the things that you really need than the products that just you want. We should be very intelligent during this time. many individuals are loosing their job. A lot of companies are already closing. As much as possible we should save money for the future.happy mylotting!!

I don't think that this is a particularly wise thing to do but then again everyone is different and handles their finances in different ways to. I am currently in debt and this is the result of spending on a credit card once upon a time. It's going to take me a few years to get out of debt completely but I have to some sort of arrangement with a debt management company and everything seems to be going well. I don't think that I will apply for another credit card again after this exepience. On the other side of the token though I suppose credit cards can be very handy if you are lost somewhere on the other side of the world and you suddenly run into difficulty. A credit card can help get you out of a sticky situation but you obviously have to suffer the consequences once you return home. I pay for things now by using my debit card. I only spend what I can afford and I think that this is definitely the way forward. I also carry out a regular budget every two weeks so that I know where I stand to the penny financially. Andrew

At this time for me applying to credit card is not advisable. Yes, you are right it was hard to settle a loan if we don't have a good resources. Better to used cash when shopping. If we don't have enough money well let us try to choose first priority needs. I had an experienced with those credit cards. And it was really hard to pay for debts.

I guess it is not a matter of when to have a credit card. It is more of a matter on how the person use his/her credit card. If you spend more than what you can afford and pay only minimum amount for your credit card, then I would not advise to use it. If you are discipline enough and able to control your spending within your own limits and pay the full amount whenever you are being billed, then it's always good to have a credit card. You do not need to carry so much cash around if you are buying big or expensive items. It's also good for emergencies or paying hospital bills.

I am against into credit card, i would be easily tempted in buying things which is not needed because of just a simple swipe of credit card. most of the credit card companies has higher interest and that would be the reason why some are into big debt.

I am going to disagree with almost everyone here. Credit cards are a tool. If you use it correctly or wisely it can be a great benefit. Use it wrong and it can cause you terrible financial trouble. Credit card facilitate transactions. It is often the only secure option in some situations. That is all they are good for. They should not be used for emergencies. They usually are but that is a debt trap. It is better to save a little money from each paycheck and kept it in the bank as an emergency fund. Easier said than done. If you do that though you will be able to deal with most small "emergencies" as they arise. No interest and no long term debt. Credit card companies want you to be in debt and stay that way. They will encourage you to use it for emergencies and non emergencies because that's how they make money.
