according to me,blogging is the best way to do any sort of promotion of webpage.i do used to promote my site through my lotting and orkut also.Best way to increase the traffic is to create lot of followers in bloggers and to give lot of comments to other blog..

I have never heard of google keywords, but you could use a manual surfing site. This would get you 0 to 1000 hits per day depending on how much time you have on your hands.

I don`t know too many either, but i own an website, and i`m not sure what i will do with that one, but i managed to bring it to top 1 mil on alexa in just a few months. Now i`m having just 120 -150 unique visits . In 2 weeks i`ll start to work hard on it . Until then i`ll post here on mylot . I think that you should submit your website to major search engines such as google ( in every country: .ro, .it, .es, .in, etc ) on msn on every country, on ask .com, and so on . that will help you a lot . Don`t forget about yahoo . My hosting website provide me a special page where i can set the description, title, and so on. That will help a lot when someone is searching something that i have on my website .

However ..

If you have adsense on site, do not use traffic exchange programs while this will lead to get your adsense account banned.
Yet you can use traffic exchange for free but build a splash page promoting your site and use that splash page into traffic exchanges.

Better way is to spend time to comment in other similar blogs - mean with similar subjects/niche. Do not make "wow, very nice" kinda comments. Be creative and even criticise if is required. Just be polite ...

Use a twiter widget in your blog. Build a twitter account with as many as possible followers. Same for facebook, digg, mybloglog, stumble upon and any similar.

Register and be as much as possible active in forums related to the subject of your site. There have a intersting attractive quote or saomething as signature, pointing to your site.

Make link exchange but avoid "i put yours, you put mine" style. The best way is to make it in 3: A put link to B, B put link to C, C put link to A. This way you wouls sure avoid google's spiders to report you as link farm.

If you have friends with similar sites/blogs, make review exchange (avoid to have reviews posted in same day, better several days distance, a week or 10 days).

And so on ...
