to all my kababayans have you tried to get your birth certificate just using your land line? have ytou tried gatting passport or renewing just using your house phone? do i sound like a guy you hear on tv commercials? har har har. i dont want to go out and fall in line just to renew my passport and i dont like to go out and fall in long long lines at the NSO just to get a copy of my birth certificates. so i just call the hotline to avail one. this is only the legal number of DFA and NSO and i dont go to other agencies. i tried to renew my passport and it was easy as a breeze. they also give the instruction on what to do and how to pay. payments are through bank so you dont need to worry that it is a scam. just make sure you contact the legal DFA and NSO hotline. just search for DFA passport direct.

Is that for passport renewal only? I have tried the NSO certification through the hotline and it only took 3 days. I paid when it arrived through courier. Payment is also the same as requesting your NSO birth certificate through the municipal hall, except that it takes a week before releasing since there is a certain number of request the municipal hall waits before the liason officer go to the NSO.

I have already tried the two services and for me I find it more convenient. You need not line up just to fill out your application. They would just ask you the pertinent questions that they need and they will be delivered right on your doorsteps. I find it good quality service.

I have to go through a waiting period and a lengthy application just to renew mine here. It's not so hard to get a birth certificate though. I just pretty much need to present my identification and social security card. I have never been able to do anything like that over the phone.

I've already renewed my password by just giving a call on the phone. It was very convenient. But of course, new applications must be done personally. There is just no way that you could get your first passport without showing up in person. By the way, when I had my passport renewed I did show up in person, but only at the last stage of my passport renewal. I can't remember exactly what my visit was for, only that they asked me a few questions.

yes very convenient, you dont have to get irritated by the traffic, you dont have to fall in line and wait for long hours, and you dont have to go back there for the date of release of the passport. there are a few that needs to go to DFA personally specially if your name is very familiar or there is someone whose name is as same as you. its a case to case basis, but for new you can also call through the phone. thanks a lot for the response

Hahahaha hi seventh-bird, i saw a news about they're making trial calls and simulations almost like years ago. it seemed that they have created their own version of Customer Service in the Net. well, this is good, better than going to that full of line and hectic places of a DFA. well, regarding NSO my mom had a contact to make things easier. thanks a lot

hi there letran, i have an aunt who works for the DFA so from the start we never go to DFAto apply passport. she is the one who gets our passport. but now she is at Japan as the head of the Philippine Embassy there so she gave this to us years ago so if we need to get a renewal we dont have to fall in line. we use this for a long time already and it just came to my mind to share it. good thing you have someone who can help you regarding documents from NSO, its a struggle to get one there specially with people who has problems with their certificates. thanks a lot for the response

hello se7enthbird, yes, it is more convenient now getting/renewing a passport and getting birth certificate in our country. it's just a phone call away. it's quite expensive but it will save stress of falling in line...a very long line, include the traffic before reaching NSO and DFA offices, etc. huh...finally!

i dont think it is quite expensive for if you are the one who will go to the office of DFA you will spend for your transportation and food or snack. plus the tiredness you will feel at the end of the day so i guess it is just the same . thanks a lot for the response

This has been a feature of NSO and DFA for years not... even those who are living abroad can get their NSO documents by requesting it online or just by dialing the specified number... but in my case... since i had several corrections in my birth certificate... i still need to go to the main NSO office which i think is just like hell with the long lines and hot atmosphere... I am just happy that next time i need to renew my and my daugther's passport... we do not need to endure that long line or go to the DFA office very early in the morning... i need only to call and pay through the bank... and the passports will just be delivered to my home...

yes it is a feature for years now, and this is the only time it entered my mind to start it as a discussion. to help also others who are not aware. no hassles, no headaches and no worries. har har har. yes NSO office is really very irritating, just looking at the long lines makes my headache ache. thanks a lot for the response

Here in India, the processs to get the Passport is lenghty. It will take minimum 20 days to get one. We have to pay bribe to the police for getting the clearance.Birth Certificates can get easily, if we are throwing bribe. Without bribe it will not happen.

that happens also in the Philippines a lot of bribes and red tape. but this phone call i think cuts all those hassles for they will visit you at your house to sign some documents. they will be the one to go to your place to check the documents you need to file. there are still people who go to the office and fall in long lines but this is the easiest and effective way. thanks a lot for the response

Hello se7enthbird! I know about calling DFA and NSO and that they will just deliver it at home. Sounds convenient to me but honestly, I never done it..I mean I still find it interesting to fall in line especially that I am only staying at home so going out for me could be exciting..I think it works better to people who are busy and couldn't find time to go to the office..Although it's tiring sometimes to fall in line especially at the NSO department..

Tried this already and it was very good idea specially for a mom like me that can not be outside for too long. this is the best and easiest way for us to get documents that are important but minus the going outside and falling on long lines. I hope there are more government agencies to do this. Like NBI and SSS.
