How to cure 1 Diabetes?

Do you have diabetes? Do you know someone who has Diabetes? I don't have it but a friend of mine has it. I see him taking insulin shots everyday. Is there a way to cure this disease completely? I have heard about Pancreas Transplant but I know very little about it. Please provide some information about this problem.
