Well, the snake is finally gone. My husband stepped from the office and the little bugger was out from his hiding place. I grabbed the broom and swept him out into the open so he couldn't hide again. My husband grabbed a shovel and scooped the little snake up and he is now back outside where he belongs. And if we are right and it is a rat snake that is a good thing because there are rats out in the wooded area behind the shop that come to check the dumpster for snacks.
Main thing is I don't have to worry about customers seeing it and freaking out. Ahhh, I'm glad that is over and done with.

Well, I've had some interesting incidences with snakes. I mentioned having speckled king snakes as a kid. I didn't ask for one. My very unusual, to be polite, adoptive parents gave one to me and one to my brother, for Easter! No, they are supposedly Christians so don't go there. I don't have a clue why they thought that an appropriate Easter present. (Don't get me started on their weirdness). I've also worked in several pet shops when I was young. The first day at the last pet shop the very large burmese python bit the store owner. That wasn't any fun! Also, some people aren't aware, snakes get ticks. When a new shipment would come in we would have to inspect each snake. The store owner was sitting in front of me one day, I was in front of him, squating down. He would hold the snake while I inspected it and pulled any ticks. Well, suddenly a snake head appeared between my knees. It surprised me and I jumped and fell back on my bottom. We both laughed.
I've had a lot of dealing with snakes. Whenever I would come home from babysitting, as a teenager, there would be a copperhead sitting on the doorstep. We lived in the back of the subdivision and they were always sunning themselves in the road. When I went for walks I would sometimes pass 10 or twenty of them. I kept my distance, staying on my side of the road. I respect their space. I expect them to respect mine. However, with all the rain, I'm certain they are looking for a nice dry place. Hopefully that is the end of it.
