This is really freaky.... I just searched and found this photo of the actual red skies that they woke to in Austrailia!!
They are saying this is due to a dust storm, but I cant wait to hear what else they have to say about this....wow!!! I would freak!!!
I have driven in storms before and it was dark and lightning and rain, but nothing like this..... Have you ever driven in wild weather?

I live on the shores of the Great Lakes, and we do get amazing "red sky" sunsets quite frequently. But, nothing like the one in your photo.
I think that would really freak me out, although, at the same time I would love to see it just once. It must be surreal to see something like that. How would a dust storm turn the sky that red? I must go research that....
We get incredible ice storms sometimes in the winter that are quite amazing. Everything is coated in a layer of ice, and I mean everything! Driving is very dangerous during these storms, so most people have learned to stay home as much as possible. Fortunately, we only get one or two each winter.

You know you make a great point... since it isnt anything serious or deadly --then to experience that once might actually be kinda cool!!
I am in Michigan (the great lakes state) and I am in the southeaster part... we dont have so many ice storms --thank goodness!!! -- but we get our fair share of snow!!!
thanks for the response and have a great day!

I have, but cannot imagine a dust storm like that. I just hope everyone is ok. Has anyone heard from hiccup? Is this close to him?

I live in Ohio near Lake Erie and I must be honest I have seen my share of different colored skies. I know when I first saw something about this online I got a little freaked about it but I see it this way. I guess this has happened before where you mentioned it happened but it is rare. That being said I guess it is something maybe associated with what we are doing to the enviroment which is something we all should be thinking of everyday you know:) Thanks for sharing this here on mylot and happy mylotting to you friend:)

I thought it was incredible when we saw it on the tv and I immediately looked it up online at the weather channel... I was shocked, I havent heard anything else from it on the weather channel or online so I guess it has passed, but what an experience for those people.
thanks for the response and have a great day!
