Can you stay without using cell phones?

I know many people who can't stay without cell phone including my Dad. They feel lost without cell phone. I am a person who doesn't care much about cell phone. I leave it somewhere and once in a while I look at messages or missed calls. When I am in office, I just leave the phone in silent mode in my work station. Sometimes, I keep the phone switched off when I go for trips.

I didn't think I could - until a few months ago, when I lost my mobile phone.

Well, it was an accident actually. I was in a boat, in a lake, in the middle of an elephant park. Suddenly a baby elephant who had come in for a swim decided to explore, and came too close. I was so shocked that I dropped my mobile phone into the lake.

During the rest of the week that I was there, I had to make do without a mobile phone.

You know what? It wasn't so bad. I really got to enjoy the feeling of being on a holiday...there were no calls, no text messages, no unwanted ads...no contact with the outside world. When I got back to the real world, I realized how refreshing the experience had been!
So, I guess I can stay without using a mobile phone, if I have no other choice.

I went for a tour with my friends to a remote forest. There we not only stayed without a cell phone, we did not even carry any money with us as there was no need for money. In such cases I think one can easily stay without a cell phone. In my opinion not everyone needs a cell phone. We can slowly learn to reduce cell phone usage and try to use other means such as internet for communication purposes. Does this sound impossible?

At one time yes I couldn't be bothered with cell phones but now if out or at a friends and someone has to ring me it is nice to know they can ring my cell phone, plus I look at it as a safety thing due to my health and if needed I can ring either my son or daughter..not being married there is no-one else I would ring...LoLo

I think I can live without mobile phone. As long as there is a land line phones. Mobile phones are used for communications so if there are other means of communication I would live just fine.

also there is the computer and internet, where in we can always chat or send emails and letters to the one we love.
