Who is assumed to pay the bill?

In this case, is embrassing if a girl has to pay.
But it's depends on each people or a couple. A boy should be able to serve a girl very well, not vice versa.

In my personal opinion, I think that the man who asked for a date with a girl should pay the bill. But today, there are a lot of situations where the girl pays the bill. I hope that I will have the courage to provide the bill before requesting for a date with anyone. A man who request a date and ask the girl to pay the bill is not a good provider.

When I was young and we drank coffee at the University everyone paid for what he or she had eaten and drank. But things change a bit and then more according to age and position in life. If a young man who is working invites a girl, I think he must pay. If two couples go together for lunch or diner, they should split.
In my case I´m a widow and my friends are way better off than I am. I invite them for diner at my home and prepare something really nice. They bring the wine. But they invite me out (to restaurants and movies) and they pay everything. I don´t even think of paying.
When it´s a date ( and they are not teenagers) the boy should pay.

Okay...if it's a DATE, then the person who initiated the whole "Let's go on a date" thing (often the guy) should pay. If it's not a DATE (key word being date), I think the bill should be split. On the other hand, if you (as a girl) asked the guy out on a date, YOU are expected to pay.

If the guy doesn't offer to pay for me, I'll willingly split the cheque, but I'll make a mental note of it...especially if it's at an expensive restaurant.

Hello, Sasalove, If it's the first time of dating, I do think man should pay for the bill, if the relationship are built, I think it's good no matter who pay for that. I am very easy going with this, back to the date my boyfried date me, I pay for the bill quite often, and also try to lower down the expense if possible.

If I am on a single date with a girl I do offer to pay the bill,but in a group we generally go Dutch and there are no hard feelings as the girls earn as much themselves as the boys and there are no disputes. In fact in my household my wife handles all the cash and it is she who foots the bill when we go out to dine.
