I am almost done reading The Godfather, and I have to say I am enjoying it thouroughly. I saw the movie for the first time a couple months ago, and I am loving the book even more. Have any of you read The Godfather? What was your opinion of it? What other books like this would you recommend?

I haven't read the book but I have definitely seen the film and I absolutely loved it! I liked the role that Al Pacino played, he was very good in that movie. I know that the mafia is quite a bad thing but in the movie I loved the way the whole family supported eachother. Andrew

I read Godfather when I was in college. The novel is more interesting than the movie though Al Pacino played Michael[I hope I am not wrong in naming the actor] very well. The novel's racy descriptions trigger your imaginations so well that often the movie doesn't measure up.As exception the novels by Alistair Mclean when picturised came out as well.Examples: Where Eagles Dare and Guna of Navarone.

I finally finished the book, and it was awesmome. Al Pacino and Robert Deniro were both great in the movie

I read Mario Puzo's The Godfather like over 2 decades ago when I was still in school and I really loved the book and the movie. It was a great book and an equally great movie too. I love Al Pacino and Marlon Brando. They are such great actors. One equally compelling novel that I would recommend for reading is Leon Uris' Exodus about the struggles of the Jews to establish a country of their own. It's an epic novel not to be missed. And if you like reading stories with a twist ending, try reading Jeffrey Archer's short stories - A Twist In The Tale or A Quiver Full of Arrows. All his stories have unpredictable ending and leave you feeling satisfied with the ending. You know you've read a good book when after reading the final page you feel that you've lost a good friend.
