Do you like to keep birds as pets at home? |
|
We used to have love birds at home when I was a kid. Later, my parents used to have a parrot. It is nice to watch birds moving in the cage and it is real fun feeding them. My friend used to have a parrot which talks. Do you know that we can train parrots to talk?
Have you ever kept birds at home?

daliaj (2865) | 3 months ago | Yes, the birds require some attention on time. I think it is fine if you can spend some time in the morning and in the evening. But, I understand that it is a difficult task cleaning the cage and the place. I would like to have birds, but my apartment won't allow me to keep pets at home, not even a cat or a dog. Thanks for the response.

Some of the love birds we had at home flew off when we tried to clean the cage. We were not sure about taking care of birds; so some of them died. At last the number ended in one and we let the bird go. Thanks for the response.

3. moneymakingtoday (1806) | 3 months ago | my late husband bought birds as pets and quail birds for eggs. the quails really were plenty and we got enough supply of eggs for our own consumption. the other birds were there just for pet purposes. lately, however, i felt sad for them, having been "imprisoned" for a long time, with only a small airspace to fly. i have decided to "free" these birds and when my househelper visited his hometown, he brought it with him to release them back to the forest. just hope they still know how to survive in the habitat that they long missed.

4. sandymay16 (1330) | 3 months ago | I was in grade school when my dad brought home a baby parrot but it died after several months. He was taught to say "Captain". Then a lady from the mountains gave us a parakeet a parrot like bird but smaller. I think the cat was able to reach the bird inside the cage because when morning came the bird was dead. I once wished of a Myna bird because it's more trainable than the parrot.

Archie0 (3139) | 3 months ago | I adopted a green cheek conure last year. We do not clip his wings and when we are home he is free to fly around the apartment, bathe in our water fountain, etc. His cage is also much larger then is required for his size and is full of toys and his cuddle bed. He's a very happy bird. I can understand thinking it is cruel to cage them, and I beleive that for wild and undomesticated birds...but for a bird thats been hand raised...anything else would be cruel. Our bird thinks that we are his flock...forcing a tame bird to live in the wild is cruel as well.
