Are you familiar with the term Mycology?

I like to read articles on Internet and it was one such article where I came through this term 'Mycology'. It didn't have any explanation about what it was. Can you tell me what it is. It does sound like it has something to do Biology.

mycology is a branch of botany that deals with fungi.

You can find easily an explanation about it on the internet too. For example, try reading this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mycology It was also the first time about this term. Your questions drove me to study it. Thanks.

Mycology is the study of fungi. It's how we decide, say if a mushroom is safe to eat. It is how we found penicillin.
