How Honest are You Online? |
|
The internet is a great venue to socialize, it's big and it has many things to offer. People can be what they want to be online. Scams and lies is all over the world wide web but still people are fond of socializing using it. Can you rate yourself on how honest are you in the internet with regards to your appearance and character?I'll start, 85% of the time I don't lie on what I look like and I'm not afraid to let others see my picture. There is a 15% pretentious part of me online, it is mainly because there are times that you need to lie in order for things to end good:) Please answer honestly:)

1. Archie0 (3135) | 2 months ago | Hello there well whenever i had been on internet for the first times in my life i was always very muhc true but then i found that as i was being too true and genuine to people they started playing with my emotions and started taking advantage of my generosity. Now i am still genuine but i have stopped making much friends anywhere if i make i dont really get into touch much with them. They say once you break trust in something or someone its always hard to get it back and i think its true.

hexeduser22 (659) | 2 months ago | Hi there Archie0! It's nice to know that your being true online and yes I agree if your not careful people could use and abuse you at the same time. Sometimes it's better to reflect what others are showing you without personal attachments. You never who's real and who's not:)

flagella08 (1686) | 2 months ago | well to be honest, i only share 50% of me online. even in my pictures.simply because i also only give 50% trust to people and site online except for those proven legit ones.it's better to be safe earlier than be sorry later. we don't know how much people and site will scam us from personality down to funds.i guess being dishonest sometimes can help.

| 2. silverstone_131 (55) | 2 months ago | Hi hexeduser22, this is a great question! Well as you can see my picture is in my profile so you can say 90% and the other 10 percent well I do not know why I did not say 100% lol. I do not care if people saw my picture so it is fine. Thank you for a nice discussion and have a great day!

hexeduser22 (659) | 2 months ago | It's nice to know your honest 90% of the time online and it doesn't hurt to have a reservation of yourself. Maybe that's where the10% is for. Have nice day!

3. jesssp (1221) | 2 months ago | I'm always honest online but I definitely omit details fairly often. I don't like to use real names and things like that and I don't really like to share negative details. I don't consider that lying, as long as I don't change the details omitting them is acceptable in my eyes. I know a lot of people like to change little details about themselves and their lives thinking it's harmless but I don't think that's right. If there's something about yourself that you don't like then be honest about it or just don't share it. I hate it when people try to make it look like they're perfect.
| |
| |
|
|
hexeduser22 (659) | 2 months ago | That's a good point.Even though you don't share much of personal information online it wouldn't be considered lying because practically you don't change about yourself. This kind of thinking is somewhat to say that even though I socialize online I'm still a private person.

4. JDy116 (1436) | 2 months ago | Am I not honest for not posting my pic? But maybe my words are the ones lying. But it's only to be anonymous. Maybe I lie 10% too on other things besides appearance but it's because I can only see a virtual world, no special person I trust, so in a way I am liar to play it fair. That's why I stay away from liar sites because you can't win. You can never gain anything.

|
hexeduser22 (659) | 2 months ago | I'm not saying your not being honest if you don't post your real life pic in the internet. What I meant was I'm, pertaining to myself, not afraid or embarrassed to show my pictures online. We can be honest to some extent in the internet it actually depends on one's preference:)

5. irene3184 (670) | 2 months ago | I agree with you that internet is a great place to socialize but as far as I am concerned I always keep my profile private but there are times that online friends will ask some of my preferences in which I tell him/her the truth. In other hand, I don't lie and I just answer him/her that I don't share anything about me to that extent.
| |
| |
|
|
hexeduser22 (659) | 2 months ago | Yes I agree it really is better to be private but keeping yourself private does not necessarily mean your lying. Just be careful in giving out certain information on yourself, you can never know who's the wolf in a sheep's clothing amongst your online friends:)

6. irefed (193) | 2 months ago | I am honest to my chosen online friends such as telling my location, name, age and work field. But there are some who are just making fun online which is a waste of time and very annoying. I choose people online to befriend and take time to communicate.

hexeduser22 (659) | 2 months ago | Yes it's better to be safe than sorry. I agree there are many annoying people in the internet and are really good in wasting someones time

hexeduser22 (659) | 2 months ago | It really feels good to share your true feelings and emotions, specially when you need someone to relate with or you help someone by sharing your life experiences and hope they will learn something from it. I really cannot tell how honest you are even if you say so. I don't have the right to judge someone I personally don't know. If your honest then good but if you lie your just lying to yourself:)

8. alwayzzcitra (570) | 2 months ago | Well, I am quite honest. Not that I will tell everything about me here online, but at least I don't lie. I won't tell others about my personal data anyway, I know what's safe and what's not.
I won't disclose things like my phone number, address, or something like that. But I am comfortable enough telling people my hobbies, my interest of favorite movies, etc.
| |
| |
|
|
hexeduser22 (659) | 2 months ago | Giving someone your personal datas online is not really a sign of honesty. You just open yourself to scams and fakers if you do it. By what you stated, I think it's very wise if people do it like you do.

10. shaggin (728) | 2 months ago | When I was very young chatting online I used to make up lots of lies just to start weird converstaions and try to freak people out. It was fun lol. I remember one guy asking my sister about me and she said no shes only 13 and none of that stuff ever happened shes just lieing to you. I dont like anymore online because I only chat with people who live locally or that I know personally. I dont feel the need to make up stupid stories anymore. I chat with my friends and I love it but I do not lie to them there is no point. I would be really mad if I found out that a friend had lied to me.

hexeduser22 (659) | 2 months ago | I agree it's fun when you were young because young people tends to be playful. It would be really offensive and hurtful if people you know lied to you offline and online.
