How many times have you tried to quit smoking?

I have tried several ways to quit smoking over the years and since I am still a smoker, they obviously didn't work. I tried cold turkey (lasted about 4 hours)and I tried hypnosis and Smoke Away. Hypnosis lasted the longest but my addiction to cigarettes eventually won out over it too. I am afraid to try Chantix because I don't believe that it only targets those brain receptors that make you want to smoke. I don't want to take a chance that it might affect some other receptor in my little pea brain and I might become more of a babbling idiot than I already am or something worse. Lately I have taken an interest in trying the electronic cigarettes that I have been hearing about. I ordered a trial offer for one several weeks ago but it never came. It is my hopes that maybe I can at least cut back if I alternate between the electronic one and the real one for awhile. Oh well, if it ever comes and I see at least a reduction in the amount that I smoke, I will let you know.
