Hotmail Security Breach Spreads As Gmail and Yahoo Passwords Are Posted Online! |
|
Please be aware that the earlier reported Hotmail breach which is believed to have affected 21 million members in UK has been found to affect Gmail, Yahoo, Mail, AOL, Comcast and Earthlink accounts as well.
'Phishing' scams involve using false websites to lure people into revealing important data such as bank account details, login names or passwords, has been found to be adopted by hackers in this breach. So, if you are one of these email account holders, I would advise that you be wary of this breach and be more discriminating with your email access. Do not go to scam sites to access your emails. Be prepared to change your current existing passwords so as to protect all your vital information inside your email accounts.
Take care and have a nice day.

I think that we just need to be logical and careful at the same time whilst we are on the net. There are just so many tactics being adopted by these hackers and I am just surprised how end users can fall for fraudulent emails.
I am sure experts or installed security softwares have provided every end user to avoid clicking links and opening attachments in suspicious emails. Yet, people are still being tricked and I just cannot help to conclude that these people actually chose to take things for granted and forget to be discerning and meticulous with their received emails.
So, if we want to follow in these errant footsteps then, I can assure you that we will just be another casualty number at the end of the day.

2. May2k8 (1369) | 3 months ago | Is not there an email for phishing security who wanted to take information from us? I will maintain my account, and trying to find ways to prevent it taking valuable information from me. It seems all of my information is empty, and does not contain any of my life or my clearly address. By changing the password, whether I will remember.

Oh, you will be surprised just who and what people would do on the net. Your email account may be insignificant with no vital bank or credit card details like other users. But that does not mean and represent what other users are having in their email accounts.
If you have not been clicking any fraudulent emails from hackers or spams then you are alright. However, the latest I have on this attack, is that Hotmail and other email clients are forcing a password reset for all their members.
Just be prepared and I am just encouraging you to follow up for your sake. The details in your account may not be extensive but it could be potentially hijacked by some thrillseeker.
Take care.

3. vishroxx (122) | 3 months ago | Thank you for this news but i am accessing my email accounts at my private place, i usually avoid to open my mail accounts on public places like cyber cafe, college where keyloggers can be installed.

It does not matter where you access your emails but it is how you access it.
If you had access it from a link provided in a fraudulent email then you just might be another victim here. Victims usually are found to be careless and ignorant with fraudulent emails and clicking the links is just the epitome of things.
So, I hope that you are clear here. Just access your email via the usual regular official URL address and ensure that your security softwares installed in your system is up to date.
Take care.

| 4. prinny (23) | 3 months ago | Its really dangerous when stuff like this happens. A old site (forgot the name) use to promote hacking and phishing and it got carried away to the point where the site got shut down by authorities and the members who were "big" on the site were questioned and traced by the FBI. The site was in a multimillion dollar black market scam industry. Hopefully nobody is harmed or hurt by this.

You are quite there.
Unfortunately, it is already a fact that there are currently at least 21 million users being affected as both their email addresses and passwords are being revealed in the internet.
So do take care.

6. rdsantos (182) | 3 months ago | one thing to check always is the url of the website you are viewing, this is where phishing starts, your cookies will be steal from you even username and passwords.if your trying to log in on yahoo or google make sure the url on the address bar doesn't change, avoid sites that are luring to the eye.

skysuccess (2401) | 3 months ago | rdsantos,
If I may add here, I would not even want to click into that URL address at all. By doing that, you are actually opening your doors to a lot of troubles, much more than you can anticipate and handle.
Also, never believe those fraudulent emails that say that they represent your email client and claim that there is a need to change your passwords - and due to the unstable former site - you are advised to use the link provided.
Just make sure you do not click it to access but rather to delete. It is going to do you a load of good than anything at the end of the day.
So, do take care.

8. emarie (4458) | 3 months ago | that's a good heads up because I have both a Hotmail and Gmail account. I'm not sure if my account is at risk since I have a lot of blockers and I never give out my information online, especially personal one. But i will think about changing my passwords. I've seen a lot of Phishing scams and Firefox is pretty good at blocking those sites. but it is good to remember to keep an eye out on those type of things and just be weary online.
