Do you think Eutanasia is justified? |
|
Euthanasia refers to the practice of ending a life in a painless manner. Voluntary euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide have been the focus of great controversy in recent years. And according to Wikipedia, some forms of active euthanasia are legal in Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Switzerland and the US states of Oregon and Washington.
Reasons given by those who promotes euthanasia includes (1) the pain and suffering a person feels during a disease, even with pain reliever, can be incomprehensible to a person who has gone through it, and (2) economics and human resources.
While those who are against it points out the reasons such as (1) morally unacceptable, which view usually treats euthanasia to be type of murder, and (2) a type of suicide.
What do you think, is Euthanasia ever been justified or not?

speakeasy (1426) | 2 months ago | Big diference there - Killing INFECTED animals to prevent the spread of a disease is common practice. It is cheaper to kill an animal than quarantine and treat them. (If you notice above, I did not mention the COST of keeping a person alive as a reason to euthanize them.)
The reason a lot of animal rights activists are upset about slaughtering the pigs is that MOST of the pigs killed were NOT infected. They were healthy animals that were disease free and the GOVERNMENT (Egypt in particlular) seized them and killed them and did not even reimburse the owners. Egypt is now paying the price of it's folly. They have no official garbage collectors. The pig farmers were collecting the garbage, feeding organic matter to the pigs, and recyling the rest. They are no longer collecting the garbage because recyling doesn't pay enough to make it worth their while and they have no pigs to feed the organic material. So, all that garbage is piling up, rotting and decaying in the streets, and the government seems to be unable to cope with the situation.

I will be hurt if my loved ones will keep on prolonging the agony, for them and for myself. I wish they will pull the plug and get it over with.

3. phantsy (654) | 2 months ago | I don't know if it's justifiable. Some people endure so much pain, that I don't know why the pain itself doesn't take them out. I would have to be in that persons shoes. Quality of life has to come into play. I'm not sure, what people are thinking or how they feel when they want to be euthanised. it's hard question to answer.

4. mynestegg (162) | 2 months ago | I'm not pro-euthanasia especially if it my sickness is something that has even the slightest chance of going away. If there is even a 1% chance of getting better, I would persevere. If I become a hopeless case and there is no way for me to actually get better and live a full life or if I will be biologically alive but practically not "living" in its proper sense then I will give my family the go signal to let me go. Not by actively killing me or anything but just letting things go their natural route.

5. rusty2rusty (4186) | 2 months ago | I see no reason why someone can not end the suffering of another when done in a legal manner through Euthansia. To me it is no different than pulling the plug on a brain dead patient. They both are alive but will die shortly. Why should someone suffer? But than you have to look at hrough a religious view. Some religions believe the suffering someone feels before death is God's way of having someone suffer in order for them to get closer to God and ask for his help and forgiveness before death.
