Any good tips to get rid of Japanese Beatles? They are killing my roses and my green beans. I just do what I can to get them off the plant and toss them on the ground and stomp on them. But they were going nuts on my beans & I've read they do like beans alot. They have also attacked my Rambler Morning Glory.

hi,snuggle,There are 2 methods to control these beatles-
1]-A] Chemical treatment-Dusting sevin powder- results to falling and die.
B] Drenching with Imidacloprid in spring season.
C] Arrange bulb lights, because, they can't active effeiciently in light.
If you grow the crops in commercial basis,if we apply the above chemicals, there is a chance to get hazardous to beneficial birds ans insects.
Organic and safe control methods:
--------------------------------
1]-A]Planting "Geraniums"around rose beds, which acts as repellent to beatles.
B]Apply "Milky spores" a bacteria-Bacillus popilliae-which is proved to be
efficient control.See-Gardenr's supply co.-"Rose defense"- a product mentioned in catologe.
C]Apply beneficial nematodes.
All the best and have a nice time.

Hi Baluyadav, I was bothered by an Oprah episode about a lady chef who spliced celery. Unfortunately, she cut her finger in the process and literally almost lost her life because a flesh eating bacteria from the celery jumped into her wound. She survived because a trauma team was able to detect the bacteria but not after it had eaten her right hand and chest. What is the best way of knowing there is no flesh eating bacteria in our veggies?
