How many languages can you use? Except your mother tongue, doesn't include dialect. Master a foreign language is not easy, how can some people master more than two? It's a mystery for me, how did they do it?

my mother tongue is oriya and besides it i have adequate proficiency in english, hindi, bengali and assamese.i have some working knowledge of spanish.i have a flair for different languages .i don't hesitate to use a foreign language in front of the natives during the learning phase as i feel that helps greatly to learn the subleties of the language at a very early stage.and practice a lot till i get perfect.

besides my mother tongue, i can speak englsh. i have tried to learn japanese and can speak and write a little. it's true some people can master more than two languages. i think one of the reasons is that they need the languages and use them in their work or life otherwise they will forget the languages even if they have mastered them.

Unfortunately, I can only speak English. I took Spanish in high school but never became fluent in it. I would love to speak a second language, but as you said it is difficult to learn. I think you probably just have to have patience, and make sure you are using it on a regular basis.
