Is it legit to promote my site with flyers?

I am thinking of promoting my site by putting flyers into people's mail box, but I was wondering if this is legit??

I don't know about where you are, but here in my town that is illegal. You could get into trouble by opening people's mailbox. I would suggest that you put the flyers on the door. Then I would go to a parking lot and place them on cars windshield wipers. You have the right ideal just be real careful when it comes to the mailboxes. I highly would advice against that ideal..Good luck and have a nice day..

oh, I forget to warn you that. She is right, do not open someone else mailbox, unless you are authorized to. You might invade other's privacy, and the community strictly against it. So, like she said, send out to peoples' door, or windshield on the car. Or you can pay a little to local post office to send out their flyers.

I don't see why it is illegal. There were hundreds of those flyers stick to my mail box every month. Either house cleaning; landscaping services; to new restaurant menus. Those flyers are sent by people, and they are not against any law. So, you should be fine.
