Their argument reminds me of the entertainment industry battles against movie and music piracy. Is news just a commodity like entertainment nowadays? If so, how should we view white house correspondents or embedded reporters. Will the government select which 'News Star' will be allowed access or leaks based on his/her celebrity status? When does information quit being news? Should news be owned?

As to embedded reporters and such, all one has to do is look at Gibbs... he is a mindless propagandist of the worst order.... as are most of the reporters at the WH.
As most of the news outlets just copy/paste from an AP feed, then will they also pay ofor that?

Their thinking is that the subjects of news are the actual owners of the news and the reporters should be required to buy the story from the subjects. Then they can resell it to us.
