Do you wish your wedding to be personalize?

Well sometimes even the location of the wedding can make it unique. I had mine in Barbados which was thousands of miles away from where I live so I thought that was pretty different. Essentially all weddings have the same things like the vows but you can personalize those and say what you want to say.

I was really struck by our priest at last Sundays service. The Bible reading was actually about marriage and his sharing was really an eye-opener from me.

He started by saying that it is always a privilege for him to be invited to officiate a wedding but at the back of his head, he'd like to truly wish that the marriage would last.

He said that most couples think too much of how the festivities should be, as if it's supposed to be a fairytale dream come true thinking that after the wedding will be happily ever after.

Some fail to see that what's really important there is the ceremony. It doesn't care who else is coming, neither does it care what you're wearing. But the fact that both are truly ready to start their lives together.

If I were to be asked how my wedding would be, I'd like it to be small and only those close to us should be there. But most importantly, I'd like that he be truly ready and not forced because we've been together long nor are we getting older. At the same time, I want me to be truly sure that 'for better or for worst, till death do us part' is the one and only promise we would give, and regardless what happens, we both wouldn't let anyone take that union away.

It'll be memorable if both are truly committed to doing everything for the marriage. It's not about how people think it to be memorable (because most don't really care at all, they're there to witness - and most are there to critic anyways regardless how you plan out everything to the detail).

So, don't fret about how you'd like it to be. Instead, look at what's important. I assure you, regardless what, it will be memorable for the both of you.

Well, I have a few suggestions. I got this idea from the wedding that I've attended and have never failed to remember:

1. The guest and even the groom wear black while the bride was the only one wearing white. The bride stands out. Remember: this should be done at night.

2. During the ceremony, the lights are all off except the lights on the altar (where the pastor and couple are). So everyone was focus on the couple. This makes the wedding very solemn. Again, this should be done at night.

3. The guest singing your wedding song is a great way to do your march. Why don't you consider it:)

4. If you love to sing, why not provide a videoke or karaoke during your reception program so that any of your guest who wants to render you a song can pick one from the list.
