Which is best? x-box 360 or playstation 3?  

Thanks for your comment. I'm pretty sure that both sets of RAM run at the same FSB (front-side bus) speed, so there wouldn't be any difference except that the x-box 360 has double of that of the PS3. Everyone also keeps telling me to get a PS3 but to be honest, I would never ever pay that much for a games console anyway.

I agree, it sucks to pay to play online. It should definitely be free, Sony have certainly got the right idea with that one. Technically, the PS3 is faster in terms of processing power, but 256MB isn't even sufficient enough in a PC to support decent graphics, therefore the graphics capabilities of the PS3 are obviously much more limited than the X-Box 360. Also, both consoles have 7-vector graphics so there's really very little difference, except for the fact that the 360 doesn't jump graphically when playing games like the PS3 does - something which really annoys a friend of mine who bought one. I don't think the blu-ray player even comes into the question really, my brother bought a blu-ray player for his 360 anyway.

yeah I have noticed it jumps a lil bit but not that much that it would annoy me. I completely agree that Sony had the right idea and because of it I would definitely prefer the ps3. The xbox also has the high chance that it will break or scratch up discs.

The 360 does have a stronger tendency to break, but I think it's a good think to have the red lights to indicate that there is something wrong. Judging from which lights light up you can determine what the problem is, the PS3 doesn't have this feature, if it breaks it doesn't tell you what's wrong. And PS3's do break too, a friend of mine bought one brand new and it blew up on him! Another friend's PS3 just stopped working for no reason, it wouldn't come on so it's seems like they both have a tendency to break, I think the 360 a bit more so though.

I also have a 360 at the moment, my friends keep telling me to 'upgrade' to a PS3 hence this discussion although I don't really see that as an upgrade, just a change really. I don't know many people to play with on X-Box Live and all my friends have now bought Playstations, they're all online with each other most nights and I'm stuck on my lonesome. I think it's a bit too expensive at the moment though, I might invest in one in the future but I'm definitely not convinced yet. I'm happy with my 360 and the plans that Microsoft are planning on introducing.

Yeah it would simply be a change not an upgrade,and yeah your friends might be playing online and you are on your lonesome but do not give up home I am sure you will find friends to play X-box live on and I am happy to hear that you are happy with your X-box 360 and I would not trade mine for all the PlayStation3's in the world because I do not think they are anywhere in comparison,but if you want to get one in the future then go for it,just do not count the 360 out without a fight,especially since Microsoft is putting out so many kick butt games,have a great day,good luck with your life,and all of your mylotting goals,and Happy Posting.

The achievements are another good plus to the 360 that I forgot to mention. It makes it more addicting to play it because you are motivated to go for the goals. I believe there are "trophies" on the PS3, but so far the lack of them is disappointing.

Yeah the achievements make the games more addicting to play because you can hours or even days trying to get one achievement and that is one thing I really love,because it is totally awesome,and I have heard that the PlayStation 3 has trophies,and my brother has a PlayStation 3,and he said he has only seen a few games with trophies and that is part of the reason he likes coming over to hangout with me and my wife so me and him can play the X-box 360 and go after achievements on multiplayer games such as Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 1 and 2,Rainbow Six Vegas,and Halo 3,have a great day,good luck with your life ,and all of your mylotting goals,and Happy Posting.

I've owned mine for a year now too and had no problems, except for it being very sensitive. It won't read discs with even just surface scratches. I've got a Wii aswell but to be honest I don't use it, I don't like any of the games and all the accessories are way too expensive.

I definitely agree that the accessories are a bit much...perhaps they market them to get kids excited and make more money. Haha. I think the Wii, being the current gen system that brought motion sensor controls (and decent ones, at that), definitely is going to have many games coming out for awhile that simply are better off not being played. Many game developers may want to try out their skills with the new motion controls, whether or not they have good ideas for games. I view the Wii like I viewed the Playstation 2...they're both great systems, but the vast variety and quantity of games ensures that some, if not most, will be mediocre. Games like Shadow of the Colossus for the PS2 and Metroid Prime 3, Super Smash Bros., and MarioKart Wii for the Wii make these systems great.

Yep, it's definitely the Mario games and suchlike that makes Nintendo what it is and the games so addictive. I suppose the whole motion sensor thing is to do with interactivity and making you use your body at the same time which is a little healthier than traditional gaming. I've recently found out that in addition to Microsoft releaing their infra-red motion sensor for the 360 (which doesn't require you to hold anything) that Sony are also releasing one for the PS3, so it looks like motion sensors are the way for gaming in the future. I think we'll probably start to see more Wii-like games on the other two consoles as time goes on, but probably with better graphics and animation.

And just to add, talking about accessories being to rake in money, they do it with games like Call Of Duty 5. You have to pay to download map packs from X-Box Live even though you played those levels in the campaign mode of the game so you must already have them anyway! They just make you pay to unlock them to use on the internet for extra cash.

well, i would have to go for the ps3 since currently me and 7 of my other friends X-box 360 have shut down, i dont know if its a scam by the company or just used up Ram, the X-box does have better graphics on its newest Halo 3, but Ps3 haves a better browser and dual cord speed boosters. so my guess will be the Ps3.

Used up RAM? The 360 has twice as much RAM as the PS3. I've got idea why they would just shut down, I don't know of anyone who has had that problem. The PS3 has seven cores running at 3.2Ghz each which is very strong processing power in comparison to the 360's three cores that run at the same speed but PS3 only has 256MB of RAM which causes the graphics to jump, whereas 360 has 512MB of RAM.
