My father's mom died at age 89, she was born in 1900 and died when I was 13. The year was 1989. My mother's father died at age of 87 last 2003 while her mom is still alive up to this time. She's my grandmother, she will be turning 85 this December 2009. How about you? Do you have a family of having a long life like my folks?

Hi larish,
My grandmother is still alive at the age of 86 so far the oldest living family member from my mother's side. She's stil active physically but mentally she's suffering from alzheimer's disease. Though she's not having any other ailment it saddens me that she can't anymore recognize everyone of us.

My mother's side did not reach a long age. My granny for instance passed away when she was 65, my grandpa at 60. I have only 1 uncle left on my mother side and my mother who is 76. My aunt and 2 uncles passed away when they were just 40 and 55 years old. My husband's side, however, is good with longevity. His grandmareached 100 years and 6 months. My father-in-law reached 72. Not bad. I guess it has something to do with genes and good healthcare.
