Hello there! Well, that was some kind of trolling. According to FAQ, if a member use the DRS improperly, such as giving negative rating to a post even it is useful and of good quality, the reputation of the user who do that trolling will also be affected. Anyway, if you got negative rating from your posts, you can still recover because more members will give positive ratings when you post quality content and only the troll will get negative rating. The DRS was nice because it makes users keep on posting quality discussions, responses and comments. And as stated on the FAQ, the rating or also called mylot reputation can also affect the participation earnings.
